I think Cashman loves the Yankees. He’s only worked for them. But, this next generation must be making this a very tough decision. George was a tyrant. This generation has multiple, dysfunctional heads – esp one named Hank.

That’s irrational. And, you’re making an assumption. You don’t know what I would do – and neither do I. Weak attempt at a cheap shot on your part there, my friend.

It would all depend on the job that Krivsky did for the Yankees, etc.

And, since he never worked for them, we don’t know…and I don’t know…and it’s silly to project what I might or might not say.

MJ – the G.M. meetings are very early this year – just a few days after the 2008 World Series. You really want to have a G.M. in office just a couple of days before the meetings and then send him off? Is that fair to him?

It makes much more sense to give a guy a couple of weeks with the team, speak to Girardi, Stick, etc., and know their position on things before heading to the meetings. This is why I suggest drawing a line on 10/15. It gives the new guy fair time to get ready.

There’s no excuse for this to drag on beyond 10/15.

The season ends on Sunday, September 28th. You want a decision within two weeks when waiting four wouldn’t make any difference whatsoever (no announcements during playoffs/World Series). I’m not saying he will drag it out, but you’re being stubborn for the sake of spite.

FWIW, in Kat’s piece, Hal Stein said that they’ve yet to come up with a Plan B list.

It shouldn’t become a case where they have to beg Cashman to stay.

Anyway, I would think that if Cashman decides to walk, that the Yankee organization already has a list of potential replacements. I would hazard a guess that they already have such a list.

The Yankees have told him that they want him back. Money won’t be an issue – he’ll get paid and paid more than most other GMs. So, if they want him, and will pay him, that should be enough…

It shouldn’t become a case where they have to beg Cashman to stay. And, it shouldn’t become a case where he has to think about it forever. There’s no excuse for this to drag on beyond 10/15.

If I’m the Yankees, I would give Cashman no longer than until October 15th to decide on what he wants and come to an agreement.

Chill out. The World Series ends a few days before Halloween. They can at least start making plans then. What’s your hurry, besides the fact that you want him out ASAP?

Giving Cashman a Torre-type of “here you are, don’t take it” offer or timetable isn’t the best way to handle the situation.
