    hey steve,

long time reader (found the blog 2 years ago, consistent reader for almost that) first time commentor.

you asked the other day for suggestions on the blog, and i haven’t gotten around to it, so i figured i’d put it here.

this is an awesome site, but sometimes it gets a bit redundant (cashman/hughes), and other times seems a bit hypocritical.

as an example, after each of hughes’ last two starts, i came on later that night or the next day to read two separate cautionary tales/negative outlook of sorts about hughes’ future (redundant the second time around). further, you sort of took jabs at those who think hughes can do nothing but good or that he is going to be a very good pitcher despite a very small and untelling sample size. yet, at the same time, you continually make your own predictions about hughes (i think you compared him to a few run-of-the-mill pitchers in the first post) off of the same small and untelling sample size.

now, there are few things more bothersome than those who have hughes on a pedastal. but at the same time, it is unfair to criticize those who have him on a pedastal (just their opinion), and then offer up your own opinion on the same evidence that is equally unsupportive of your view (that he won’t be that good). because at the end of the day, we don’t know. it’s all just opinion, and we are going to have to wait and see on hughes, and a lot of kids (at least that’s how i look at it).

anyway, this is really great read a few times daily. the last thing i want to do is tell you how to run a site that has been so successful, and i hope it doesn’t sound like that’s too much of what i’m doing. just figured i’d offer that up as someone who has been reading for a while but never offered my opinion on the site. a little less trying to prove the same point over and over again would go a long way, at least in my book.

And this should be the end of Pavano’s Yankee career…

Pat F – thanks for the feedback.

I’ll make a deal with ya…when Cashman builds a team that wins a ring and Hughes has a decent, full, season in the bigs, I’ll stop trying to prove my point. ;-)
