King: Buzz Says Cashman To Return
Via George King -
While Brian Cashman remained mum about his future, the buzz smothering the Yankees’ universe yesterday focused on the GM telling the Steinbrenner family he wants to return.
An announcement could come as soon as tomorrow.
“Sooner than later,” Cashman said with a smile when asked about reaching a decision.
Hal Steinbrenner, who wants Cashman back, hasn’t made an offer. However, there are indications Cashman could tell Steinbrenner he wants to return and negotiate later.
With Hank Steinbrenner fading from the picture, Hal has been in touch with Cashman more than his older brother. Cashman and Hal work very well together and Hank hasn’t been involved in meetings with Hal and Cashman and his involvement has decreased.
Oh, goodie.

Followed by a 2 PM press conference to announce that Phil Coke and Alfredo Aceves have already nailed down spots in the Opening Day rotation.
Guess the Steinbrothers realize the other GM’s out there don’t have the resume Cashman has…
Yeah, a resume is so much more important than an ability to evaluate talent or a record of achievement.
Don’t know what you put on your resume, but usually, they list your accomplishments…
Fact of the matter is that since Cashman took the reins, the Yanks have had 5 World Series appearances, with the team winning 3 of them.
If he’s such a poor evaluator of talent, if he didn’t know what the hell he was doing, the playoff streak would’ve ended much earlier than 2008. Or you haven’t seen what happened to other teams around the league? The Indians? The Tigers?
