Cashman wouldn't trade Hughes for an ace like Santana.

Why would he give up on him now for a guy who will be a FA in a yr?

>> Proof positive that most NY fans and NY media share the same impatient brain. >>

Or proof that the fans never have their own ideas and too many of us listen to idiots like this ...

"Yes, let’s trade two young, cost-controlled players with great promise at their lowest value for a guy whose home/road splits demonstrate the difference between a stud and a nominally above-average player."

I think it is time for Madden to retire, he is smelling his own ink. As a general manager, he makes a great asshole.

"While we’re at it, why not trade A-Rod to the Angels for Chone Figgins and send Joba to the Dodgers for Juan Pierre."

because thats anywhere near what was suggested.

look, is it a little much? yeah, prob.

but its not impatient to upgrade, as long as what you upgrade with isnt a short term solution.

I dont fundamentally disagree that either/or, or both shouldnt be moved in the effort of improving the team.

but the prospect of trading both Cano and Hughes for a player who's going to be a free agent after the year doesnt make any sense. that is, unless he's open to signing an extention on the spot.

but even at that, then you run into logistical issues of where he actually plays. Damon and Matsui will likely share LF, and Nady is pegged for RF. Jorge and Matsui will likely share DH duties thru the year.

perhaps including Nady in the trade instead of Cano makes some sense? then you can play Holliday in RF this year, and shift him back to LF when Damon and Matsui are off the books next year.

that is, unless the Yankees find a taker for either Damon or Matsui on the last year of their deals.

yeah, this is getting a little complicated...
