Squaring The Ledger On The Big “G” Bet
Yes, I am a man of my word. It’s October, so, here’s the picture, as promised:

True story: My wife had to work this evening. So, I asked my daughter, who is 6-years old, to take the picture for me. As always, she was full of questions:
Why am I taking this picture of you holding that sign?
I promised someone that I would pose holding this sign and have my picture taken, holding it. It’s sort of a joke, actually.
[After she reads the sign] That’s not really much of a joke. It’s not even funny at all. I’m not even sure it makes sense.
Well, some people may find it funny. You really have to know the whole story.
What is the whole story?
O.K., here goes… Back in February, I said that Jason Giambi wouldn’t do something – and, if he did, and I was wrong, that I would have my picture taken holding this sign.
And how is that funny?
Because I was wrong and now I have to take the picture.
O.K., can we just take the picture now so that I can go back to watching T.V.?
Absolutely.
No bets on Giambi for next year – I swear! I won’t do it. Why? Just to avoid another session of grilling questions from one of my kids is reason enough!
Sorry “G,” – you and Kevin were right. Good job. Attaboy.

Excellent. I would have preferred, though, if you were right about Giambi and wrong about finishing in third place…
LOL – yeah, that would have been a pretty good trade.
OK Steve, remind me about your posting policy, blah, blah, blah….
But I am going crazy watching the Sox make the Halos look like Sarah Palin getting grilled by Katie Couric (Katie Couric????).
Not only have they whipped us on the field since ’04, they have re-made their team on the fly and in spectacular fashion. You name it: trades, free agents, farm system.
It’s going to be a tough few years in the Bronx.
haha..Good job Steve. Your daughter sounds bright also.
Funny Steve…
I would think your wife would probably have the same line of questions as your daughter
On a side note, am I the only one bugged by all these patches you find on Yankee caps nowadays?
Raf, are green shirts soon to follow?
Jeez…. maybe I don’t remember correctly guys… but didn’t Steve say he would pose naked except wearing his wife’s panties? I mean, that picture is hardly enough FOR INSULTING THE BIG ‘G’!
Actually, I really like Jason, but I think he is pull/HR happy. It is really hurting him, especially with somewhat dimished bat speed. I believe he is was willing to forget about HRs and just go with the pitch, he could still be a .280/.400/.480 guy. He could be a ton of doubles in YS LC field gap.
Ken interesting point on the Red Pox and the Los Angeles Assholes of Anaheim. Scioscia is a better manager than Tito, the Halos creamed them this year, yet this Angels’ choking syndrome happens again. If any team can come back from an 0-2 deficit it might be the Angels. The Red Stockings do deserve credit for getting it done so far and it would be interesting to see them face off against the Rays of Sunshine. The SunRays might be the new Marlins destroying the new Evil Empire( the Red Pox). It’s funny how the Yankees (this year the Tankees) aren’t even in the conversation…….
Giambi is gonna get some serious cash from an AL team this year for his DH services. Will he go to Tampa, Toronto or back home to Oakland?
butchie, if the laa-laa’s don’t wake up quickly then the Rays are the only team that can prevent another WS for the Sox.
But having said that, the Angels can do it, however unlikely. This is where a manager matters and Scioscia is great.
OTOH, it would be fun to see the Dodgers play the Red Sox and even better to have Manny hit well leading the Dodgers to a WS win while the Red Sox are paying his salary!
DJ21996 – thanks
Raf – FWIW, my wife was aware of the “bet” – and thought I was a sucker for making the offer..
Hey, OldYanksFan, believe me, this one is payback enough!
Raf, on the cap, dude, this one goes back to 2003 (it’s the 100th anny patch) – so, it’s practically a collector’s item now!
