Big news to share from WasWatching.com HQ: Today, my six-year old daughter lost her first baby tooth. We’ve already alerted the tooth fairy and her ETA is later this evening.

However, there’s no truth to the rumor that the Yankees’ Brian Cashman has asked our permission to take the tooth to Fresco By Scotto (for dinner) and then to a showing of “Momma Mia” with the hopes of signing the baby tooth to a four-year, $40 million, contract.

PS – I got some good news today as well. The “Summer of Steve” ends in 10 days.

      1) Congrats to the young Ms. L! Hopefully inflation/COLA have augmented tooth fairy rewards from the $0.50 it was in my day.

      2) Congrats to you, Steve! I hope the new job is enjoyable and rewarding and that you’re fairly compensated.

2a) I also hope it’s not going to be a nightmare commute for you. Not that we don’t miss your I-280 traffic reports. ;)

2b) Finally, I hope your new job doesn’t cut into your blogging time. Some of us working stiffs need frequent WW.com updates like we need coffee in the morning.

      3) I gotta say, your Cashman joke was pretty darn funny. :D

      Thanks MJ and Raf.

The going rate on tooth #1 is still in debate. Back in my day, it was probably worth about a quarter. Today? Well, two of my daughter’s friends got $10 for tooth number one…so, I think they may set the bar…but, in the end, I leave that stuff up to the Mrs…and defer to her.

Now, to the job…sadly, it will be another I-287 deal…but about 10 miles less each way than the last time. So, there will be traffic stories yet to come…I suspect. Hopefully, because the trip is shorter, I can avoid those really bad ones where it took like 3 hours to go one way.

Actually, this is probably a good time for a “programming” update here…

I’ve accepted a contract gig to write about the Yankees players for a baseball annual that will be coming out soon. (That’s all I can say now.)

And, over the next week or so, I need to spend time on that…so, it could be a *tad* slower here while that’s being taken care of…hopefully it won’t take the whole week. It’s about 60 words per player…but I also need to research and analyze the stats on each player too…

And, once I start the new job, expect a change in posting patterns here…as compared to the last 6 months (for sure) – where I’ve spoiled ya’ll. Most likely, I’ll be posting just about everything at night…and very little, if anything, between 6:30 AM and 7 PM…

And, that will carry on for the next three months or so (without question)…bringing us to the point where it’s two weeks before P&C report.

Now, that’s not to say that I won’t, at times, “write” stuff at night and then have it “timed” to publish some time during the day (which the software allows me to do). That’s one way to spread out the content, etc.

And, it’s not to say that I won’t, if needed, find another way to get something posted during the day, if it’s breaking news, etc.

This would be somewhat like what we had here at the beginning of this year, starting in January and ending around April…where I found a way to have stuff posted when it was just not possible for me to post it. Hey, sometimes, you need a little help from your friends, right?

[Boy, I can just hear people pissing and moaning already about stuff being posted by WW Staff...]

But, in any event, it’s my goal – as it’s been since April 2005 – to have something new here everyday.

Still, it may never, again, be like it was for the last 6 months…where I was spending many hours each day on the site. That just doesn’t work for someone with a FT job.

Lastly, glad you liked the Cashman joke – - you never know who these things will go over!

      Congraulstions on all the news.

When I was in kindergarden, my parents got a call from the teacher. I was telling all of the kids what the tooth fairy did for a living.

My father told me she was a hooker. And, of course, I felt like I had an obligation to spread my knowledge.

My father explained that it was supposed to be a joke and the adults.

I knew what a hooker was. I saw tow trucks with their hooks to attach cars to. I could put 2 and 2 together and figure out that a hooker is the person who hooks the cars on the hook.

congrats steve! I just read your response to my question a few days back in regard to your line of work, and get at it my man your the good guy!

Thanks Corey. After months of being stripped to the waist, eating a block of cheese the size of a car battery, it will be good to get back into the swing of things…
