Raf, one glaring ommission but what else is new? What is Adam Dumb's (sic) batting average? This is how Dumb is scouted: he doesn't have the passion for the game, strikes out too much, hits home runs when they don't count in a band box! The Yanks need another DH type who will come on board for a big paycheck, right? WRONG! The Yanks need yet another DH clogging up the base paths, they already have what 3 of them next season? Dumb is gutless and is showing up for the paycheck, the Yanks need gamers not real Arods/Kingman Jrs ! Bill James calls him an old school type of baseball player and he means that in a derogatory manner. Ricciardi said what most of baseball says and thinks about Dumb: he doesn't even care about the game.

And he is Dave Kingman Jr becaus ehe strikes out so much.
------------
Career OBP
Kong: .302
Dunn: .381

Hmmm, career OPS+
Kong: 115
Dunn: 130

I'd be willing to take my chances with Dunn.
Career OBP/SLG
AD: .381/.518
PB: .367/.485

And Dunn is younger.

Mehmattski, Dunn is the real Arod ! Why do I call him that.Because he never hits home runs when they really matter. And he is Dave Kingman Jr becaus ehe strikes out so much. Pete, Teix makes a lot of sense, good call. Burrell is more of a gamer than Abreu is and that is what the Yanks need. He wants 15 mill a year which is a problem because the Yanks have other pressing needs tooalong with offense.

IMO Tex will probably be a Yankee — don't be shocked if they take #23 out of retirement as an incentive, lol

Well, Adam Dunn is the same type of player, only better, and will probably be cheaper. Why not him instead of Burrell?

"When he signed, I thought his last couple of years would be quite painful to watch."

right. as you go into the long term agreement with the understanding that you're signing the player for years 5, 6, 7 of the contract knowing you're going to get great production in years 1-2-3-4.

plus, Teixeira is actually a much more dynamic player than Giambi in the sense that he's all star caliber on both sides of the field, offensively and defensively.

and IMHO, you have a much better chance of Teixeira living up to the production level expectations that come with a 7 year deal than Sabathia with a 6 or 7 year deal. time could prove me wrong, though. thats the risk you take with signing any free agent player to big money.

thought it was a good deal.
----------
Same here. Even his last season exceeded my expectations. When he signed, I thought his last couple of years would be quite painful to watch. Like Bernie Williams 2005 painful.
