    ...a frog?

Not bird, nor plane, nor even frog, it's just a little 'ole baseball blog!

Phil Hughes, Joba Chamberlain, and Ian Kennedy. Whether you call them “Generation Trey,” or “The Big Three,” or “The Three Amigos,” you know who they are – and how the represent the hopes and dreams of many in Yankeeland. (Or, at the least, they did back at the start of this season.)

At this moment in time, I thought it would be interesting to see what Hughes, Chamberlain, and Kennedy are up to right now. Here’s the skinny on each:

    • Phil Hughes: Getting undressed by a bunch of no-names in the Arizona Fall League.
    • Joba Chamberlain: Sitting sore-shouldered in a Lincoln, Nebraska, drunk tank.
    • Ian Kennedy: Hanging out in front of the Circle K on the northwest corner of the intersection of Goldenwest Street and Warner Avenue (in Huntington Beach, CA) bragging to his buds about how he spent the summer perfecting his smirk in Scranton Wilkes-Barre.

Yeah, these guys are “three” somethings, alright…

Oh my. you have got to be kidding me. Hughes had his first bad game and you jump on him. Did you not notice the other two games. You just wait for everyone to be down so you can kick them. you’re horrible.

      Recap:

Phil Hughes — You’ve always hated him because he’s a blogger and because you think he’s lazy and untalented.

Ian Kennedy — You loved him until he had a bad season in 2008 and now believe he’s both a scrub and has a bad attitude.

Joba Chamberlain — You loved him but now you perceive him as both constantly injured and a bad seed for making an unfortunate, but very common mistake.

The Yanks should really do a better job of vetting their young talent. Astute GM’s would’ve clearly seen the future of these three pieces of crap. Trade ‘em all for Kyle Lohse and Ted Lilly.

Hey, remember that time that you suggested that Hughes’ actual numbers in the AzFL would not matter, that it was more important that he got work in? Remember how you said that his actual numbers was a no-win situation– that if he did well, “people” would just say he was supposed to do well at that level; if he did poorly, “people” would slam him?

You’ve really got to stop referring to yourself in third person, Steve…

No, because Zito is a surfer and uses the word “dude” a lot. That’s not the prim-and-proper Yankee way. ;)

~~good luck with your first day on the new job!~~

      Thanks.
      Long day.
      Up at 5 AM.
      Got home at 7 PM.
      Ate dinner.
Said good night to the kids.
      Watched a little TV.
      And, then typed this.

Tomorrow should be the same drill.
Heck, just about every weekday should be the same drill now…

BTW, FWIW, I shared an opinion with this one.
I expected some to agree and some to disagree. That’s good, and welcomed.

But, for those who feel the need to spew things at me for having an opinion, well…look in the mirror, see what you’re doing, and think about it.

Yup. He fooled me in 2007. But, it didn’t last for long. But, why give credit to someone for coming around, quickly, to the proper call?

Because it’s not proven that that’s “the proper call.” Snap judgements aren’t rewarded in baseball, just ask the Mets who are watching Kazmir pitch for the AL Champion Tampa Bay Rays.

Is Kennedy the next Kazmir? Based on stuff alone, clearly not. But everyone went hot for him after 2007 and now everyone’s gone cold on him in 2008. Let’s be a bit more even-tempered, huh?
