Yeah, I don’t see the Marlins agreeing to that package, headache or no.

Problem is that the Marlin payroll is going up next year and they would definitely want good cheap talent in return. Kennedy is mediocre at best, Igawa is dreadful and in essence the Marlins know talent. Kennedy and Igawa are junk compared to other pieces they (the Marlins) could get elsewhere. At this point, why would any team in their right mind waste a roster spot for Igawa. Cash Man should have traded him to the Pads for a proverbial bag of balls! Loria, Samson, Beinfest know talent, even though they screwed up with Girardi.

Figuring someone out there will have the snot-nose itch and ask the question…let me beat them to the punch…

Would I trade Hughes for Olsen?

Without talking to Joe Girardi, no. I don’t know enough about Olsen. However, if I talked to Girardi and he gave a very good report on Olsen, then, yes, I would do it – because I already know what needs to be known about Hughes…well, at least I hope the Yankees know Hughes by now.

Yeah, but, we’re talking about a pitcher who’s not a Johan Santana, and one that comes with heavy baggage. How much can they expect for Olsen?

Kennedy and Igawa are not great. But, they would be insurance for Andrew Miller. And, the cost of the two would be nada – if the Yanks pay Igawa’s contract. Plus, Veras and Dunn could be useful parts in a pen…

No one wants Yankee garbage like Igawa and Kennedy. Look at what they got from Detroit for Dontrelle and Miguel Cabrera, a king’s ransom. That package would be more like Hughes, Veras, Austin Jackson and another young flamethrower. Sorry, but the Marlins are hard to deal with.
