The Ian Kennedy – Willy Taveras Rumor

I saw this over at Bronx Banter (who saw it at the Bleacher Report…who probably saw it in the Denver Post)…
Willy Taveras?
Wow. I knew that Ian Kennedy’s stock was down. But, this far down?
Willy Taveras?
Man, I just don’t get this one, at all.
If it’s true, it will be the second coming of Tony Womack in Yankeeland…albeit a younger version than the first one.

Might as well just keep Gardner and Melky out there…Taveras had a 56 OPS+ last year…even a struggling Melky was better than that…this would be a waste to trade Kennedy for something you already have. Might as well just hang on to him.
Yet by some astounding magic Cashman will evade any responsibility for this state of affairs…

Nothing happened yet, so how could he? There’s plenty of blame to place on the main, let’s not blame the man for rumors, that’s not fair…
Just a rumor, people. No reason to freak out on Cashman just yet. Furthermore, the story originates in the Denver papers. Seems like it’s agenda-driven on their side.
This trade will NOT happen. The rumor probably came about when Cashman was talking to the Colorado GM about Holliday and jokingly said something about moving Kennedy, and then the Rockies manager joked back that he would be willing to trade Willy Taveras. Then both GMs laughed at how pathetic both players are.
Cashman makes this trade, he needs to be smacked.

uh…. or fired.
This wasn’t even a rumor. Wasn’t this just a suggestion from a Rockies blog?
That’s the point all you pro-Cashman people don’t get: it doesn’t matter whether he makes this trade or not. The fact that he held on to to this bum to the point where his trade value sunk to the Willie Taveras level is itself an indictment of his abilities as a talent evaluator.

This was Kennedy’s second year as a professional. 3rd, if you want to count the 3 innings he threw for Staten Island in 2006. Relax.
