This trade will NOT happen. The rumor probably came about when Cashman was talking to the Colorado GM about Holliday and jokingly said something about moving Kennedy, and then the Rockies manager joked back that he would be willing to trade Willy Taveras. Then both GMs laughed at how pathetic both players are.

Just a rumor, people. No reason to freak out on Cashman just yet. Furthermore, the story originates in the Denver papers. Seems like it’s agenda-driven on their side.

Might as well just keep Gardner and Melky out there…Taveras had a 56 OPS+ last year…even a struggling Melky was better than that…this would be a waste to trade Kennedy for something you already have. Might as well just hang on to him.
