Yanks Working Hard – But Not Smart? The Bill James Baseball Handbook 2009
Nov 02

As the Major League Baseball GM meetings are about to begin, Jon Heyman thinks that the Yankees will end up with free agents CC Sabathia (for seven years at $160 million) and A.J. Burnett (for five years at $80 million).

So, let’s say that Jon is correct. If so, what do you think of those deals?

Does Sabathia have seven more good seasons in him? How about five?
Can Burnett deliver in a non-walk season?

If you’re thinking “No, no and no,” don’t feel alone. I am kinda/sorta thinking the same thing.

Burnett will be another burn on the Yankees like Carl Pavano. If they do sign him, hopefully they give him the same deal Toronto gave him so he leaves after three seasons.
