Sidney Ponson 2009

The last 2,726 major league hitters to face Sidney Ponson have batted .316 against him and have also earned 218 walks. (That’s a H+BB/PA rate of .364.) Ponson has no pitching skill left. Yet, someone will probably give him a chance in 2009. It’s happened for the last 5 years. What’s one more?
Let’s just hope that we’ve seen the last of Sir Sidney the Yankee. Twice is more than enough. Three times warrants firing the G.M., in my humble opinion.

All depends on how the pitchers perform, and who’s available. The two times Ponson was picked up were due to injuries to the Yankee pitching staff.
But yeah, Ponson is beyond done, and has been since 2003.
I also agree that another GM will give him a shot, an invite to ST.
You’ll see him somewhere in 2009.
I have great confidence in GMs’ abilities to look at 8-5 and conclude “this guy knows how to win.”
