Here’s a fun list. It’s the “leaders” in the International League in 2008 – in Runs Created per Game (RC/G) for players age 25 or younger with at least 150 PA:

Player Age	Team	Frn G PA	RC/G
     Jay Bruce	21 LOU	CIN	49	201	9.6
     Rog.Bernadina	24 COL	WSN	47	215	7.9
     Adam Lind	24 SYR	TOR	51	213	7.9
     Denard Span	24 ROC	MIN	40	184	7.9
     Brett Gardner	24 SWB	NYY	94	426	7.1
     Brandon Moss	24 PAW	BOS	43	182	7.1
     Matthew Joyce	23 TOL	DET	56	227	7.0
     Asd. Cabrera	22 BUF	CLE	34	152	6.8
     Chris Carter	25 PAW	BOS	121	522	6.6
     Juan Miranda	25 SWB	NYY	99	417	6.5
     Trevor Crowe	24 BUF	CLE	35	164	6.3
     Chris Getz	24 CHL	CHW	111	457	6.2
     Brent Clevlen	24 TOL	DET	126	540	6.1
     Adam Rosales	25 LOU	CIN	117	473	5.8
     Geor. Kottaras	25 PAW	BOS	107	462	5.7
     Jed Lowrie	24 PAW	BOS	53	234	5.6
     Josh Anderson	25 RMD	ATL	121	541	5.5
     Fernando Perez	25 DUR	TBR	129	579	5.5
     Jeffrey Larish	25 TOL	DET	103	440	5.3
     And.McCutchen	21 IND	PIT	135	590	5.3
     Josh Fields	25 CHL	CHW	75	318	5.1
     Brian Bixler	25 IND	PIT	86	364	5.1

Now, yeah, Miranda can’t hit lefties and Gardner lacks pop. But, still, based on these numbers, how can anyone say that they’re not young players who have done well, on the whole, at Triple-A?

Heh, you really do love youngish hitters.

But let’s be real. These 24 year olds in AAA are mostly filler, or at best platoon partners.

And man, is Jay Bruce something or what?

Still think Miranda should be given a serious look at first base. As part of a platoon of course, but he can rake against righties.

I hear Mianda is absolutely TERRIBLE with the glove. Anyway know? If so, a no-glove, 1 sided hitter is of little value.

He’s not terrible, but he’s not Albert Pujols either.

And he has the more valuable part of the platoon. He absolutely *hammers* right handed pitching..in the minors, anyway.
