Guys.... it's far from a science. These are 'future projections' and are probably as good as future projections for the stock market.

Remember that Buccholz was better then Joba, and Phil was better then Lester? Don't get your panties in an uproar. We need something to talk about in these off-seasons.

Dunno.

FYI, Manuel explains why he's high on Aceves, the catching depth in the organization and Phil Coke's development to Mike Silva:

Baseball America’s Top 10 Prospects lists are based on projections of a player’s long-term worth after discussions with scouting and player-development personnel.

Is there some sort of consensus that BA values ceiling more than tangible results? (Basically, is Brackman's high ranking typical of BA, or is it rare for someone with so few IPs to be ranked so highly?)

~~How exactly do they try to analyze this? ~~

According to BA...

Baseball America's Top 10 Prospects lists are based on projections of a player's long-term worth after discussions with scouting and player-development personnel. All players who haven't exceeded the major league rookie standards of 130 at-bats or 50 innings pitched (without regard to service time) are eligible.

Jairo Heredia will be high up on that list next year.

The top 6 there is pretty much standard.

To Corey, I think Austin Jackson has "that look." He could be another BJ Upton/Paul Blair type, who plays a shallow CF and can run. What's holding him back from the majors at this point? Offense?

(Steve, I'm still waiting for my link. Come on. You promised.)

On Betances, I also remember an article where they weren't going to let him throw to many innings past 100 this year. Heredia was on the same plan I think. Yankees are big on the whole building up innings thing.

Do you mean '07 or '08? Cause he had over 120 innings in 08, but yes, was injured for most of 2007.
