Teix would have no pressure on him because Alex will always command the maximum attention.
Plus there is a lot of attention on Cano for 2009 also.

Teix would just fit in nicely with what we are trying to accomplish.

At 160 million he’s no bargain that’s for sure. I don’t like the idea of getting tied up in a long term Giambi like contract with this guy.

I read that Tex isn’t friendly with A-Rod from Rangers days. But is anyone friendly with A-Rod? Does it matter? I don’t see Teixeira as a Chambliss or a Reggie. Or a Beltran, for that matter. I think he’s workmanlike and gets it done but also has a fire for winning. I want the guy on the Yankees. A lot.

And it’s not like Teix will be first fiddle, we still have A-Rod for that.

I like Teix much more than Beltran because he is more of a pure power hitter (which means he sacrifices speed.) Teix has a better career OPS 134 vs. 118., better SLG .540 vs .496, better OBP.

And in their ”162-game pace” Beltran projects to 39-108-113, Teix to 36-121-101.

I would say Teix is more powerful and more disciplined at the plate than Beltran. And it’s not like Teix will be first fiddle, we still have A-Rod for that.

Besides his first season (96 OPS+), Beltran has been pretty damn good (150, 126, 129), plus three gold gloves at a prime defensive position.
