IIRC, Manny wasn't that bad in the field his brief time as a Dodger. Having said that, no team is going to sign him with the expectation he play gold glove caliber defense. His bat will make up for any defensive deficiencies he may have.

Maseroti is a Red Sox shill. They wanted Contreras, did they get him? The list goes on.... The Red Sox would give Teixeira a 10 year deal, Tony, unh? He must be kidding everyone. 200 mill is a lot for the Red Sox and remember that Manny got 200 mill from Duquette's regime not Theo's. Would they even pay 25 mill a year for him? NO WAY! They have tons of young kids that cost nothing, why go to an inefficient model and piss away money 25 mill a year when their primary adjustment is relief pitching. I can't see Theo and Co sign off on getting this guy , paying him and giving him the years. Teix is poorly cast for Boston is this regard: they have Lowell who is perfect for this team and Youk too, it will cost TOO much money even for Boston. Dan Shaugnessey was on the Miked Up show yesterday and I got the impression that Teix is not that much of a

Manny? Manny is poorly cast for the Yanks and the Mets. OMar was talking to Manny? Is he insane? The team needs bullpen help and he wants that butcher in the field for three years. If Omar had been the GM of an AL team, Manny makes sense BUT since they have zero flexibility with regards to DHing him, this is a dumb move. Omar makes Cash Man look like a brain surgeon. The yanks have no business with Manny either. He will be a flop with the Yanks, they have a million DHs and they are going to pay another one 25 mill a year? That makes no sense. It will be a total media circus if he comes here, too.

Since I really want Teix on the Sox, my fear is that the Yankees break the bank after losing out on C.C., who I think could very easily end up with a good enough offer from a west coast team to spurn the Yankees. So the best outcome would be for the Yanks to get C.C. (preferably after he makes them sweat it out and add another few zeros) because I am pretty sure we can outbid the Angels, regardless of how "aggressive" they are (plus deadlines never work with Boras anyway).

The Yanks would be better served focusing their attention on Manny and CC and trying to trade for another pitcher.
