you think Shelley is going to be anywhere near Damon and Swisher? Maybe Shelley, Michael Scott, and Dwight might rival Melky Cano and Molina, but definitly not Shelley with Damon and Swish :)

I think Damon, Shelley and Swisher will become quite the group to rival Melky, Cano and Molina's partying. Then add A-Rod's late night visits to Madonna to Jeter quietly sleeping with every hot girl in the city...and we have quite the team next year.

The guy hit 40+ home runs in 2006 and is a great clubhouse guy.
==================
he hit 35 in 2006...and when you're winning, everyone is a great clubhouse guy.

On top of that, money not spend on Tex is money spent going after pitching…which is what we really need
==================
This past season definitely contradicts what you say here...besides, Ponson will be available in june :)

also, on the market on swisher, cashman has said that he was working on that deal since the summer. There's a lotta politics in baseball as well, ya never know The white sox gm williams might not like team X because of past trade negotiations and won't do business with them at all. I've seen far dumber reasons for people not dealing with each other in my life,and I highly doubt baseball GM's are above the social pitfalls that we encounter on a day-to-day

"Yeah but doesn’t think imply that Kenny Williams is an idiot and didn’t get full value in return for Swisher?"

sure, if it turns out to be true.

well, it depends on the market for Swisher.

apparently, it was bigger than any of us realized, if there are still several NL teams interested in his services… and the more teams in the mix, the better a package or better the player you can negotiate back in return.

I'm sure there are plenty of teams interested in Swisher, but I'm sure if they were going to give up something good for him that Kenny Williams would have made the trade. I don't think he would just trade Swisher to the Yanks without thinking it was the best deal he could get.

EHawk:

Don't you think if acquiring a top notch pitcher like Peavy or CC was so easy the Yanks would have done that by now? Instead of being short on pitching every year since 2003? Tex would be a great player and very important, but just simply throwing out a trade for Peavy or throwing all the money in the world at CC is not so easy in itself.

"I don’t see how the Yankees could expect to get much for Swisher when they pretty much gave up nothing to get him. Why would any team give up something good for him now? It would have to be Swisher plus something else to get anything in return."

I want to make a point to you who think Swisher is the answer at 1b...He's only played about 200 games there and Tex has played over 900 so you can't say Swisher would keep up a pace of .996 if he had more chances. He's a decent first baseman but Tex is top notch. Also another point I want to make is you ask why would the Yanks want to flip him so fast well the White Sox obviously didn't think so high of him since they traded him after 1 season. If he was so valuable you'd think they'd hold onto him since he is only making 5 mil a year.

I think Yanks need Tex more then they need CC because they can always go out and try to trade for Peavy or get Burnett and Lowe and still have a solid rotation. CC has flopped in the playoffs and I fear he'd do the same here. If they can get CC fine but still go get Tex...they have the free money to do it.
