So, I keep seeing these reports that the Yankees are talking to Mark Teixeira.
Me? I’m still lukewarm on the notion. And, I think the Yankees could just be playing around with this one.
I would think that anyone could see the risk in signing Tex to a ten-year deal. Besides, come 2012, the Yankees are most likely going to have to move Alex Rodriguez to first base. So, then, what do you do with Teixeira for the next six years?

At a minimum, this is the equivalent of the Sox talking to CC. Perhaps its also to try to secure a Plan B (even though we know Steve wants Plan A or bust.) Or perhaps the Yanks have an even grander plan than we all thought.

I think it’s more an insurance policy type of strategy… in case CC really does prefer the West Coast for a paycut.
…ARod to 1st in 2012? why?

I’m not sure Teixeira gets the 10-year deal, no matter how much Boras stomps his feet and pouts. So, assuming a six-year deal for Teixeira, I can’t think of a better fit for the Yanks.

A-Rod to first? So that would make, let’s see, how many players at that position? Is it our new dumping ground for aging vets? (Well, not counting Swisher.) I want Teixeira. Period.

In fairness, it IS the best place to put players who can no longer play their original infield or outfield position. And, with A-Rod, we at least know that he’s a good enough athlete and baseball player that the position itself wouldn’t be as challenging to him as it would be to a Posada, a Damon, a Matsui, or a Sheffield (back in ‘06).
But I agree with you Jane, I want Teixeira too.

So, based on this thought, Tex is a no go on the radar?.. Hmmm… cashman better make a big splash in Vegas and I don’t mean jumping into the fountains at the Belliagio ..any thought about a trade for Roy Halladay and Alex Rios to the Yankees… I offer just about anything to the Jays but Joba in return..

Yanks don’t have nearly enough to get Toronto’s ace and their best OF and, furthermore, no way Toronto trades them within the division.

I appreciate you responding back to me but it wouldn’t be the first time Jays and Yanks hooked up in a trade.. I remember a guy named Barfield for McGriff one year.. Jays got the best of that trade.. But not to pest you, Robinson Cano, Phil Hughes, Phil Coke Austin Jackson and cash doesn’t even get the Jays to answer the doorbell? I do appreciate your time MJ..

Possibly, although I don’t see why the Yankees would make that trade. That’s more than they were being asked to give up for Johan Santana.

MJ– Don’t forget.. Alex Rios is part of the deal.. And Cashman is a Jacka$$.. should have signed Johan!!.. But Thanks for your time.. Look forward to your next blog..
