Point is more that he is in a position to sign, not the other way around. Whether he signs today or next month, he’s going to get his $$. It’s just a question of which team is going to give it to him.

Depends on the motivating factor. Whether its the Brewers, Yanks, Giants, or any other team out there, Sabathia will receive a large contract that will have him set for life.

Colletti is a dope. He is a middling GM who has made some stupid high profile signings that have not panned out. I don’t care what CC said. I also understand that he would like to play for the Yanks if possible. Look, he will take the Yankee money because McCourt and Colletti have spent a gazillion dollars that have gone nowhere. They are also the poorest big market team. McCourt is reluctant to spend megabucks again, with the great exception of Manny(and he got a two year offer not anything beyond that).

There’s the proof we’ve all been looking for, if it is indeed a true statement and not a bunch of crap from Colletti. We’ll see how much he loves it. No, it isn’t. Could be that he’s motivated by things other than money. I doubt other teams will want to match the Yanks’ offer.

If he’s willing to leave money on the table that’s his right; according to BBR, he’s already made $36M, in theory he should be set for life.

The only person weeping will be Sabathia if he doesn’t get an offer to pitch for the Angels or Dodgers. So, again, who cares what he prefers? It all boils down to where he signs. Unless he takes Door #3 and sits out in protest that his beloved LA teams didn’t love him enough.

I prefer the West Coast too. But if someone wants to pay me 30 million dollars more to stay on the East Coast…well, New England’s lovely in the Fall.

Both to himself, and the clubs he is trying to negotiate with? For himself, he will be short selling his potential value to a western club if they know they don’t need to blow him out of the water with their offers. And I think it is just a slap in the face to teams that are legitimately trying to build themselves up (not just including the Yankees) when he says “No thanks, I’d rather help someone else.”
