Crowds gathered and hushed as BRIEN TAYLOR, the Yankees’ $1.5 million rookie, threw for the first time off a mound. It was worth the wait. Taylor spent about eight minutes pitching and threw his second fastball three feet wide of the plate but was quite impressive. “I could tell he was a little excited,” General Manager GENE MICHAEL said. “He has a fine arm. I’d sign him again.”

Dodgers, Yanks Resume Cano Discussions
According to Ken Rosenthal, the Dodgers and Yankees have resumed their discussions about second baseman Robinson Cano at the Meetings. The Dodgers also like Melky Cabrera, while the Yankees hope to get Matt Kemp and pitching from L.A.
