Just piggybacking on Justin’s comment. Fact of the matter is, unless something happens where Kennedy is unable to pitch, he will pitch for the Yankees in 2009. Especially considering the injury history of Hughes & Burnett and the possible innings limits for Hughes & Chamberlain.

So now we’re down to two conditions. Before it was four. You’ll have him in the Opening Day rotation by dinnertime.

How do you figure? I don’t think he needs to have a particularly good spring; he’s almost certain to have good numbers in Scranton; he’s doesn’t have a major injury history; and there’s no rumors of a trade with him involved. Sounds like we’ll see him to me.

Further, I’m not inclined to just give up on 24 year old pitchers when their minor league numbers are as good as Kennedy’s are. He’s going to be a major league pitcher at some point.

I am pulling for Kennedy to have a big bounce-back season — mostly to boost his trade value so he can be used to bring back somethign the team needs in the stretch run. He could easily become the team’s most useful exchange asset.
