Giambi is coming off a 30 homer 100 rbi yr. Why would he not get a contract offer from some team??

They should bring Giambi back because without Teix or Manny(it seems likely they'll bring him on) they could use the "hitting depth". Though Giambi looks like he could land very easily on Tampa,Toronto, Oakland or the Angels and there is some talk about 2 years for 16 mill. That might not be cheap enoughpennywise poundfoolish Yankee front office. I would even bring him back at 8 mill, considering how defiecient the Yanks are hittingwise.

Assuming no Manny or Teixeira, absolutely you bring Giambi back if he's still available.

Who the hell else is going to produce runs for this sorry-ass lineup?

I see no harm in a spring training invite, if it comes to this.

If Giambi is still looking for a job, six weeks from now, should the Yankees give him a non-roster invite to Spring Training?
----------
Sure, if they don't sign Manny. Giambi's bat still has value, and I suppose given the lukewarm interest, he'll come cheap.

I hate to say it, but the Yankees desperately need someone who can hit HRs. A-Rod is only player currently on the roster that has any power (Swisher might pretend he does with 25 HRs, but he isn't really a power threat.) I think the team needs Tex or Manny, but if neither of those two come to the Yankees, Giambi might not be the worst idea.

I really thought that I wanted absolutely nothing to do with Giambi after this year (and I still really don't), but the Yankees complete lack of power means that something muc be done to address this issue. Especially if Matsui is less than 100%.
