~~ Why is it, this off-season, it seems that there are reports all over the place about what A-Rod and Madonna are doing, and, yet, no one can get the true scoop on what teams are talking to Mark Teixeira or not? ~~

Steve, Rob Neyer once wondered aloud in one of his chats how Jon Heyman is able to break all news regarding Scott Boras.. he went on to imply that Heyman-Boras feed each other info for mutual benefits and sometimes HeyMan goes as far as becoming a Boras spokesperson... maybe this is Boras's way of using Heyman to send signals to the RedSux...

Though I am loathe to say it again and again, the payroll parameters with regards to who they can sign or not sign is out the window. Yes, it would be obscene to sign Teixeira AND Manny but the Yankees could do it with their large stream of revenue. In 2010, they have quite a few holes to fill as Nady,Johnny Damonic and Godzilla are all out of the picrure as well as their respective salaries.

From what I understand the Orange County Angels gave him an offer of 10 years 180 mill,no? I wonder if they will give him that dreaded Nancy(JD) Drew/Afraud opt out that he wants. That's something that Boston won't do BUT that's something I can see the Angels (their offense is anemic and need protection for Vlady) or the sad sack Nationals( they need a showcase/star player) doing because they need Teixeira more than the new Evil Empire, the Red Pox , who have a really good offense and don't really need him as much as the other teams.

did you see how much CC is going to be paid next year? It seems to me they geared this deal so that they could sign tex long term and not have to worry about being way over 180 (as CC will be paid 14 mill this year). Next year a lot more money comes off the books, and then they will be able to afford having CC and Tex being paid in full. This is great news.

Heyman is the mouthpiece of Boras. In order for Boras to save face he is spreading those rumors via Heyman so the Red Sox will start the negotiations and offer more money to Tex. Its interesting how after Boras told Henry that he has other better offers Tex didn't sign yet.If the Angels offered more money why is he not accepting it? Because those offers don't exist.

An agent is going to at least talk the Yankees and make other teams think that the Yanks are in on the bidding. I personally hope that they really are.
