Byrd vs. Ponson? Who cares? I’m a little late with this one. But, have you seen the footage of what went on in the stands of the Red Sox-Yankees game of August 27th this season? Somehow, I don’t think this is what baseball’s forefathers had in mind when they came up with the “Ladies Day” concept.

lol @ the guy yelling show us your cans

side note, isn’t it a bit sad how all the cops are morbidly obese? What if the person causing trouble wasn’t an equally obese woman? There’s no way the cops can use brute force in front of a crowd that big…even more..if something were ever to happen, the whole stadium is screwed.

There’s no need to. They have strength in numbers; as it was in the middle clip, there were two cops, plus stadium security. Another one showed up during the apprehension/arrest.

Also, don’t kid yourself, while some may appear obese and out of shape, there are quite a few who are strong like bull.

That brings up an interesting question that I pose to you, Steve, and anyone else who’d like to chime in:

During Red Sox/Yankee games or Mets/Yankee games, in your experience at the (former) Stadium, do you tend to see more fights break out during Yankee wins or losses? If the latter, what’s the ratio?

I don’t see many bleacher fights, but the Tiers? Disgusting.

While I agree that the woman in the middle video shouldn’t have behaved that way, to me it sure looked like the cop didn’t show restraint and respect to the woman either. It looked like the female cop was already agitated and got right in the woman’s face with hair-trigger provocation.

I didn’t like seeing that at all.

Honestly, it’s been ages since I saw a fight at the ballpark. I go to 2-3 NYY-Bos games a year and I haven’t seen any nonsense in the stands. Then again, I’ve been sitting in the Loge so I can’t see the Tier, where a lot of the junk usually takes place.

      To the question…

This is just my feeling, but…if I had to guess, I would say there are more fights at Sox/Yanks, Mets/Yanks, in the Bronx, when the Yanks are getting pounded. That’s usually when the fans of the other teams start acting like asses…and when Yankees fans are not in the mood to ignore it.
