An Expert Opinion On Posada’s Prognosis Major Yankees SP Imports
Jan 07

Feel free to use this post as a place for you to comment on anything Yankees-related (or within reach of tagging the bag of being Yankees-related on a decent slide) today. It could be a casual conversation offering, or, something you saw in the news, or something very detailed that you want to share that’s within the territory of Yankeeland.

Or, comment on something that someone else has posted here in the comments…

Have fun. Play nice. And, remember, keep it Yankees-focused.

Any ideas on which outfielder will be traded? Preferences?

I’d prefer for none of them to be traded, honestly, unless we’re blown away with an offer that really helps boost a need. I don’t see why taking 5 players (Matsui, Damon, Gardner/Melky, Swish, Nady) and swapping them between 3 outfield spots and the dh spot is a bad thing.

If one had to go I guess i’d prefer it to be Nady. He had a career year last year and we’d be selling high on him. Of course we wouldn’t get as much because he’s a free agent next year but consider what we’d get with our other options. If we were to trade Swish, what would we get in return? Cash bought low on him and we gave up scraps, so why expect anything more than scraps in return? Damon and Matsui have no trade clauses, and nobody is going to trade for Melky or Gardner. So all of the value is in Nady, and would most likely bring the best return in a trade.

Somebody is going. I heard Girardi on XM Radio this morning talking about the team. He said that Matsui is doing well and he expects Godzilla to be his FT DH in 2009. Further, he said that CF will be a battle between Gardner and Melky. He said that Gardner was “dynamite” in September and that Melky had a great first month and then let some things get into his game that he needs to correct. But, he said that he was fine carrying one of them in CF now that they have Tex and that Posada and Matsui are coming back.

So, since Damon will bat lead-off, and play LF, that means that RF is between Swisher and Nady. And, I cannot see the loser of that one riding the bench all season. So, my guess now is that either Nick or X-man will be traded.

Funny, I thought that they might consider ONE SEASON of Swisher in LF, Damon in CF, Nady in RF, Matsui at DH and Melky on the bench…but, I guess not.

A little something on the Romero (and Mitre, since they were guilty of the same thing)

Nady as his value is at its highest.

But, with creative usage, Girardi can find AB’s for all 5 players. But I have a feeling the loser of the Melky/Gardner battle goes to Scranton, and Damon rotates between LF & CF, Nady & Swisher between RF & LF.

Besides, it’s only a matter of time before Damon & Matsui gets hurt, easing the logjam a bit :)

Definitely agree on the injury possibility of Damon and Matsui simplifying the choices. Lets hope not though. I’d love to see a full season of Damon and Mats for a change!

BTW, just a little housekeeping note. In the storm last night, we lost power/phone/internet/TV at home. The power seems to be restored now. (Although it went again on us for a bit this AM.) But, we’re still without phone/internet/TV – and Fios is saying that it could be out until mid-day on Thursday. So, there’s an excellent chance that I’ll be MIA at WW from Wednesday evening until Thursday. Thefeore, if you’re expecting a reply or something from me on something, don’t take it personal if you don’t see it.
