Ben Sheets for a 2 year deal. That would leave future space for Hughes, Aceves, Kennedy, Coke, et al.

All things equal, I’d sign Pettitte for another year. Otherwise I’d go for Sheets or Garcia, id I’m looking for a “project.” If I’m looking to fill out the rotation, I’d take on Looper, Byrd or Kawakami.

Ben Sheets for a two year deal? So you can have two injury prone pitchers on your starting staff? No way! Who knows if he could pitch under the NYC pressure and not sustain injuries. If they didn’t sign Burnit, then fine. BUT now every game will count this year and they have very little wiggle room to experiment. Absolutely no projects as the 5th starter , either, they can’t afford to have another Hughes/Kennedy experiment when they need to get back into the playoffs. In the end, sign AP again for one year. I’d much rather go with the devil I know versus the devil I don’t….. Looper, he couldn’t hack it in NY with the Mets, Byrd is not a bad idea, BUT Kawakami, do the Yanks need Igawa part Deux?
