Fox TV is bringing “Prison Break” to an end after four seasons.

The network said Tuesday that the drama starring Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell will begin airing its final episodes this spring. The series took a break after its December season debut and will conclude with about a half-dozen episodes starting April 17.

Fox entertainment president Kevin Reilly told a meeting of the Television Critics Association that the decision allows the series to end on a high creative note.

I feel like I’ve just been punched in the gut.

That’s how I felt when Deadwood got cancelled.

I’m still ticked at CBS for pulling the plug on ‘Jericho.’ And, NBC is on my list for not giving ‘Journeyman’ a chance.

Pretty soon, I’ll probably be pissed at all the networks…

At this rate in another five years the only new dramatic shows network television will consider will be “CSI: Toledo” or “Law and Order: Traffic Violations.”

Sorry about the show getting canceled. Did they at least ever break out of prison?

unbelieveable. to me, best show on TV with House.

yeah, i get that they cant continue to run the storyline forever, but they do the surprise twist better than anyone.

Steve, I’m not pissed at CBS for Jericho BECAUSE they at least gave it a second chance and that second time around it didn’t light the world on fire. Sci-Fi could have picked up something like Midnight or Jericho(especially Jericho since they were braodcasting it after CBS) very easily. I am shocked as to why that couldn’t be done. Jericho is not on the level of expense of Battlestar so money is not the issue, they need another anchor show after BSG is over. I liked Journeyman, but NBC wanted bigger ratings after Heroes their “break-out” hit. It is rare these days for a network to stick with a show when so many choices are available.

Steve, Wentworth Miller was saying that this was the last season as far back as last November, this is a fait accompli. They talked about ending this year, BUT the ratings have not been that great. I don’t know what the demos are(so important like SLG and OBP are),but the fact that guys in their forties(like me) are watching might not be the demo Fox wants. I will miss the show, but Purcell, Miller, Sucre and T-Bag all seem to have film careers so I hope to see them on the silver screen. Last but not least I’m happy that the show hasn’t jumped the shark yet. The longer a show goes the more the chance the quality goes down, that is why I’m happy that Lost has an end date.

Prison Break sucked and belongs in the same pile of trash as Lost & 24. A bunch of entertaining crap with no real story line or redeeming qualities.

You want to watch some quality television tune into HBO or Showtime.

Phishhead, you are so bloody right. The Brotherhood is a Sopranos retread in New england done wrong (the Sopranos were a soap opera to begin with). The L Word, a stupid silly show ’bout women who love women that is one level below Young and the Restless in terms of originality. True Blood? A very pussified/soap opera version of a Vampire story made for hapless Yuppies. That wretched Aussie show, where the gay guy plays multiple roles? I’m half Australian and that show is a bloody embarrasment to me/us. Weeds? Kevin Nealon spot being relevant in 1990!You might not like what Butch likes BUT a lot of what HBO/SHO offers are usually subpar retreads of regular tv with curses, tons of blood, and violence. just because a show uses the F word doesn’t make it great. That being said, Prison Break rocks!

The commonality between all these shows is they have no core plot. They all have endless back stories to waste your time with and sucker you into the next episode.

Prison Break: how many prisons are they going to get put in and have to break out of before this useless story gets somewhere?

      Lost: What?!

24: This year, Jack Bauer saves the world, IN ANTARTICA!

Give me something without cheap, flaccid plots and never-ending cliff hangers and I’ll call it quality television.

You mention “The Brotherhood”, “L Word”, “True Blood”, “Weeds”, and I’m assuming “Flight of the Conchords”.

Brotherhood was a knock-off of Sopranos, ok fine, it ran for one season and got the boot anyways.

L Word, “a stupid silly shout ’bout women who love women”… ah man, don’t know how I can argue with that one, air-tight logic there.

True Blood, I’ll agree that the acting is shit, especially for Showtime, and the dialog is less than pleasing, but the plot is interesting and original. “pussified/soap opera.. for hapless Yuppies”? I don’t see how it has any relation to “Yuppies” and you’re the one ragging on these channels for being “retreads of regular tv with curses, tons of blood, and violence”, so how is it pussified again??

Weeds, this show certainly isn’t for everyone but once again at least it has an interesting and original plot. Not to mention, unlike True Blood, good acting and dialog to boot. If Kevin Nealon doesn’t crack you up then you have no sense of humour.

Flight of the Conchords, extremely dry humour- so off the bat it’s not for a lot of people, but it has it’s appeal, AND AGAIN nothing else like it on “TV”.

Now that we’ve covered those bases why don’t you try and tear down some of HBO and Showtime’s pillars… like say The Wire, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Deadwood (RIP), Ali G (he made a huge blockbuster movie, don’t know if you’ve heard), Big Love, Real Sports, Dexter (it’s funny, this one got stolen, neutered, and run by prime-time “TV” after the fact), and Californication.

      You sir, have no taste.
