Not bird, nor plane, nor even frog, it's just a little 'ole baseball blog!

Feel free to use this post as a place for you to comment on anything Yankees-related (or within reach of tagging the bag of being Yankees-related on a decent slide) today. It could be a casual conversation offering, or, something you saw in the news, or something very detailed that you want to share that’s within the territory of Yankeeland.

Or, comment on something that someone else has posted here in the comments…

Have fun. Play nice. And, remember, keep it Yankees-focused.

anyone ever wonder if the reason Pettitte hasn’t signed is because maybe he’s not going to be throwin out the first pitch in the new stadium anymore and CC probably will?

I doubt that’s the reason. I think he just wants more money. And the Yankees don’t want to pay him more money. And so they’re going through all these annoying motions. And eventually a deal will get done for around $12 million.

      Or not. Who knows?

Yanks open the 2009 season with 9 road games in 10 days, before the home opener. So, when you factor that in, and consider possible games being called, is there anyway to esnure that anyone will pitch that first game in the new Stadium?

If CC starts the season in game one, and they don’t skip any turns, then it would be the 5th man in the rotation who gets that first YS game, no? Or, do you think they would have CC go on short rest in his 3rd start of the year? That, IMHO, would be crazy.

as the first game in the new park, i would think they would put the best pitcher on the mound to ensure a game 1 victory in a new park. if that means moving some things around, i think the Yanks would do it…I don’t think he would go on short rest, but i could see long rest

I doubt that will happen unless a game gets rained or snowed out. Whichever way the rotation shakes out will get the YS start.

I’m just disappointed that it won’t be Former Opening Day Starter (TM) Carl Pavano.
