I like JD but his game is all based on good legs. He could fall off a cliff at anytime. If we get a productive 2009, we should just feel lucky.

Given his career to this point, I just don’t see it. He’s a league average player and has been for his entire career (save a fluky 1st half of 2008).

Personally, I’d definitely try to sign him to a short, front-loaded deal. At best, the Yanks keep a productive player without extending themselves too far and at worst they bridge the gap to the future.
