  • A-Rod To Appear Before Congress Now?

Alex Rodriguez soon might have to repeat his steroid admission on Capitol Hill.

Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) plans to recommend to the head of the congressional committee that has previously hosted baseball players that A-Rod receive an invite to testify about his steroid use, Cummings told Newsday last night.

“I think we’re going to have to see what Rodriguez will tell us,” Cummings said in a phone interview.

“He is in a confessing mode, so maybe he needs to put his apology into some meaningful action by cooperating with the committee so we can see if there are things we need to reopen to make sure baseball is doing all that it can to rid itself of this kind of practice.”

I can just see the “A-Perjure” headlines now…

Forget “A-Perjure”. Do you realize that pretty much every time A-Rod comes to the plate in a stadium other than the one in the Bronx next season, there will be an “A-Roid” chant? It’s going to be SO bad.

      I agree with jmeisner.

Ever think of this. How different would the game be had Boston landed Arod instead of us? Would they have won those 2 titles? Would we have won more? Who might we have signed for a power bat?

      So many questions.

I know it’s knee jerk to say this, but seriously, Congress has NOTHING better to do right now?!?

As far as the chants, who cares? Fans across the league are never going to like the Yankees or their players, no matter what they do. Even the almighty Jeter gets booed on the road at times.

      Would we have won more?

The Yanks aren’t without WS rings because they have A-Rod. If you really believe that…yikes…

It’s not knee-jerk to say it, it’s 100% fair and true. Congress loves a good grandstanding opportunity so I more or less expect A-Rod to get called in for a congressional grilling. What I can’t figure out is why the hell Congress feels like it’s so terribly important to the governance of the country to find out if professional baseball players are using drugs.

This is the last thing I want. I’m so, so sick of seeing Yankees in front of Congress while footbal players walk away with nothing.

Agreed. Although it’s not just Yankees, it’s all baseball players. Our legislative branch of government has a soft spot for getting their pictures taken with baseball players. They’re star-f**kers and would love nothing more than to get a glam-shot with A-Rod.

Let the opposing fans chant whatever they want. When Arods bangin HRs, and playing great defense, as long as we walk out of there with a win they can chant themselves blue for all I care!

The a-roid chants will eventually pass. They may be bad this year, but they won’t be there forever. It’ll lose it’s charm at some point
