Steve -

Life's been getting in the way lately.

As to the question of who came forward... I'm guessing since Roberts said they came across the info in the process of doing a profile, that it may have been Cyn-Rod or someone close to her.

My other best guess would be someone from the US Attorney's office. Since the BALCO thing began, they have been notorious for leaks of varying size and scope, mostly about big-name guys, so either of those two might be the culprit.

Sean - first off, great to see you. It's been too long! Secondly, good theory. Who would you say came forward first of the four? Somebody had to be 1st and then SI went and got 3 confirms, no?

Roberts' reporting said they had four independent sources.

Apparently somehow the blind codes were attached to names, but not to samples, but those lists were kept separately in New Jersey and Arizona, so some enterprising staffer in the U.S. attorney's office did the work in assembling the lists and comparing them to get A-Rod's name.

Now, I’m guessing the four confirming sources are: some Assistant USA, someone at the NJ test facility with the name/number registry, someone at the Arizona test facility and a fourth wild-card source, who I wouldn't be surprised if it was Cyn-Rod.

The same thought popped into my head about Cynthia. Certainly possible.

If true, that's pretty mean.
