Yank Official: We’re Stuck With A-Rod Now

Via Wallace Matthews – an unnamed Yankees official on A-Rod now that we know he used PEDs -
“Now we’re stuck with the [expletive deleted] for the next nine years. What if parts of his body start falling off in year five of the contract?”
Any guesses on who said this?

Considering it’s an “unnamed Yankees official” my guess is that Wallace Matthews himself said it. If not Matthews, then it was some Joe the Plumber type sitting next to Matthews on the train into NYC this morning.
The more interesting question is what body part the unnamed official thought would fall off….
nobody said it, maybe some dude hanging out, cutting grass at steinbrenner field.
Probably Jeter
Seriously, Alex will be fine. If we get a championship or 2 by the time year 5 comes around. I quite honestly wouldnt care if his body parts began to fall off for the remainder of his deal.
Don’t know whow said it, but it’s true. A ten-year contract is much too long. Even if no body part falls off, ARod’s hitting, fielding and running will decline during the last years of the contract.
The incentive for the Yanks to give him 10 years was so that he’d break Bonds’ HR recored in pinstripes, giving the lead to a non-steroid user. Now, that’s gone.
Betting good money.
It would be Randy Levine, the Yankees president.
Whether Levine or someone else, I’m sure that whoever said this was totally on board with the re-signing. Cashman should be telling these morons “I told you so”. (Not necessarily about the PED’s but that signing Arod last year was a mistake.)

If that were the case, it was a stupid reason to sign him, steroids or not.
It’s an absurb comment. Mathews just wrote it for the shock.. Name the source.
A-Rod has done as well or better since 2003, believing he’s been off the juice as he says. Now David Ortiz also trained with the A-Rod buddy. His body is falling apart, though he was never cut like a roids user, but neither has A-Rod for the past few years.

Steroids or no steroids, shouldn’t have signed anyone over 30 to a 10-year contract. Who is the bigger [expletive]? Sure ain’t A-Rod.
