• Look, up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's a frog!

    ...a frog?

Not bird, nor plane, nor even frog, it's just a little 'ole baseball blog!

FYI – we’ve been having some systems issues here today. Hang in there with us. And, yes, your eyes are not going crazy – we had to default the theme of this blog for the moment – did the retro look, FWIW.

Yep – I noticed the systems issues when I couldn’t get on the site for 2.5 hours! Imagine, I had to work!!

Just a side note Steve, I had trouble getting on the site all day and I tweeted you for info. Check on your Twitter feed every once in a while and you can let us know if something is up.

Thanks YankCrank – but, as I have mentioned, I cannot see Twitter between 7:30 am and 7:30 pm on weekdays. I do appreciate the effort ‘tho.

Just a heads-up on what went down today.

The site was slow in responding this AM – as you may know. It seems that the problem had to do with the WordPress Theme that I had been using – which, BTW, I had been using since April 19th, 2008 when I converted from MT to WP.

For those not aware, the “theme” is what gives the blog its “look” (or “skin,” if you prefer).

The theme that I was using, apparently, was being loaded from a remote site. And, on March 7th, 2009, that host site expired. The guess here is that WasWatching.com was loading the theme from a local cache on my server over the last week. But, once my server was rebooted today, the blog programming started looking for the remote site again to start loading the theme. But, since the remote site was now gone, the theme could not load – and that screwed with the whole site.

Yeah, it’s Friday the 13th, right?

I first noticed this about 9:15 am ET. And, about three hours later, I made the call to convert down to a basic theme – just to get the site running properly. Function is better than form, right?

When did this start? Some time between midnight and 9:15 – I would guess. I was on the site around midnight and did not notice any issues.

If you were using WasWatching.com between midnight last night and noon today, and experienced problems, please accept my apology for the inconveniences Things should be fine now.

Much later this evening, or tomorrow AM, I’ll start working on getting another theme that’s a little easier on the eyes. Hey, the old “theme” was almost 11 months old. So, maybe it was time for a change anyway?

Related, if someone, with a knowledge of themes, knows of any good free ones out there, please feel free to post a link to them here – and I’ll check them out. Thanks!

hey steve, if you want I wouldn’t mind helping out (and I wouldn’t need a theme, just a design from you) if you need it

Corey – thanks. I’m looking for something with 3 columns – like the old format.
