    That’s what the bloopers and deleted scenes portion of the DVD is for! :-)

    The bummer about this is that they’ve shown 3 of those 6 on heavy repeat on the YES Yankees Classics. For a while there, the Abbott, Wells and Cone games were on with great regularity.

    I’ve never seen Larsen’s game and have only seen Gooden’s game once. I think I’ve seen Rags’s game a few times but it’s been a long while between viewings.

    larson’s game was on mlb netwrok a LOT

    It’s great. I hope they keep the old commercials in there when they put it on the DVD.

    I’m sick of just about every Yankee game they replay, and for some reason, they have made about 50 Yankeeographys and every time I turn on YES it’s always the Catfish Hunter one. I mean, would it kill them to show the Jeter or Posada one every once in a while or do I need to wait until Xmas every year for the marathon??

    At this point , I usually avoid the replays. In addition, I’ve had enough of the Yankeeographies too. With the advent of ST, we are getting some kind of fresh games again. For me, the bread and butter of YES are the Yankees games(once in awhile I’ll watch a Nets game but that is a rarity) ,unlike SNY which is basically ESPN JR with Mets games!

    I agree 100%. If I have to see the game after Thurman Munson’s funeral or Game 6 of the ‘77 World Series once more, I’ll throw a shoe at my TV. Does YES realize how bad they’re killing it?

    Top 5 games I’d want to see if YES actually gave a crap about my opinion (in no order):

    -the one where Armando Benitez beaned Tino and started the craziest brawl I’ve ever seen;
    -the one where Mussina took a perfect game into the 9th at Fenway;
    -the one where Cone came back from his aneurysm and pitched a 7-inning gem;
    -the one where Bernie hit a walk-off HR in the ‘99 ALCS; and
    -the one where Mattingly hit 2 HRs on “cap day” in 1995 in response to the ridiculous order for him to shave his goatee.

    I was sitting in the bleachers for that last one and remember we all tossed our caps into the OF after Mattingly’s 2nd HR. Awesome day.

  8. MJ Says:

    Correction on the last one…Mattingly only hit 1 HR that day, but went 2-4 with 3 R and 2 RBI. I just remember the stands going nuts because of the whole goatee incident.

  9. YankCrank Says:

    MJ, that’s a really cool story. That must have been a great game to be at and btw, you list of games to watch is a pretty solid one. They’d be great additions and if I had to vote for one, i’d take the Bernie walk off in either the 96 ALCS against Baltimore or 99 ALCS against Boston.

  10. Raf Says:

    I’d be perfectly happy with some random games from the 60’s – 80’s. I could sit through Niekro’s 300th win. Or the game where Righetti set the saves record. Maybe some Kevin Maas games. Or Danny Tartabull’s big night in Baltimore. The first game @ the renovated Yankee Stadium, or the last game @ the “old” Stadium. Maybe something from the forgotten Shea era…

    *DISC 3: Jim Abbott’s No-hitter*

    Had been going to every saturday game up to that point, but my boss started griping because I would come in late on saturdays & sundays when the Yanks were in town (I had coverage, so to me it wasn’t a big deal), so I took a break from the Yankees (I think it was a saturday) and showed up to work @ my normal time…

    *DISC 4: Dwight Gooden’s No-hitter*

    I attended this game, courtesy of tickets gotten through the Yankees Fan Festival. Festival attendants were able to redeem their stubs for a preselected game during the season. Since Seattle & NY had a “rivalry” at the time (that never really caught on, IMO), I chose that game.

    *DISC 5: David Wells’ Perfect Game*

    I was home from college, arrived the night before and was planning to go to the game (I enjoyed watching boomer pitch) until I saw that it was “beanie baby day” and that was at the height of the beanie baby craze. Since I wanted no part of that, I figured it would be best to stay home.

    *DISC 6: David Cone’s Perfect Game*

    A friend called me up saying that she had an extra ticket, I liked watching the Expos, and I enjoyed watching Cone pitch, so I went. Didn’t realize what was going on until the people I was with started talking in code. Not so much code, but like Edith and her cling peaches (or her mmm-mmmm). By that point, I had already seen a no-hitter, but never a perfect game.

  12. Corey Says:

    wasn’t cone’s 7 inning performance a no-no after he came back? im not sure i remember it that way for some reason tho

    I barely remember Niekro’s 300th but I definitely remember Rags getting #46. I even had the baseball card of that record breaker in my bedroom on top of my dresser. Rags was the man!

    I agree, I’d love to see some games from the end of YS v1.0 or the first games at YS v2.0.

    —————–
    Yes it was. Mo came in after Cone left. All he gave up was an infield hit, IIRC

  15. Corey Says:

    i remember watching that conie game…man i was young back then, what year was that anyway?

    9/2/96.

  17. Corey Says:

    nice that’d make me just over 10

  18. Corey Says:

    side note, it shows you how moved I was by that game that I could remember details about it from when i was 10, i would definitly like to see that 1 again
