did anyone else notice gardner playing the left handed hitters to the opposite field? Not that it could have changed the game, but I feel like he could have caught one of those doubles and maybe cut off another 1…I was SCREAMING at the tv lol

lol and Jeter looked pretty dissapointed when Ransom booted that ball into the outfield…Jeter was set up for his pattened Jeterian in the hole play

    *watch, not was

Corey, I was also kind of watching Gardner hit and noticed that he was challenged every at bat. Didn’t turn out too well for him last night but it seems everybody is just going to feed him strikes until he proves he can hit. Let’s hope that happens soon.

It hasn’t been talked about much, but i’m impressed with Cano’s start. Hitting the ball, taking walks, stole a base, played good defense. Jeter also showed some rare power last night…not everything is bad so far.

Cano’s stance looks like he’s opened up a little bit from the spring, but not as much as last year…might be just me tho?

I’ll second the Jeter and Cano comments, and would like to add Posada to the mix. He’s hit the ball pretty well and already thrown out a couple of potential base-stealers. Doesn’t look like his shoulder is bothering him at all.

At least I wont have to listen to that mindless booing everytime Tex blinks an eye. What a bunch of yokels.

Think of how bad it will be at Fenway? There will be 18 games this year in Baltimore and Boston where the booing will just be ridiculous.

The booing when a guys comes to bat..like Arod everywhere. But they would boo when someone simply threw to Tex at first. I’ve been to a Yanks/Sox game at Fenway..they weren’t that obnoxious

Crank, add in the other teams who will probably follow suit , because Yankee hating therefore Teix hating is the current flavor even though the Bloody Red Sox and the St Pete Sunrays are bigger targets. Despite that fact, it is still chic to boo the Yankees for any reason, anytime. Another thing what else do they bloody well have? I literally can’t remember when they were relevant as a baseball town, they have nothing down there ‘cept for a beautiful park. Clint are the Blackbird fans that different(though they are a handful and we are legion)from Yankee fans on booing? Remember how the Boston Red Rox were received at the All Star game? How Papelbon and his wife was threatened at the All Star Game parade? My point is that it comes with the territory. I don’t mind it when the enemy team boos a player, BUT when fans boo their own player like he’s Halladay or Big Flappi? It’s OK for when they are in a slump that’s a tradition in the Bronx, but otherwise….Hey, even Mantle was booed but what happened with Arod was plain ridiculous. As much as a Lighting Rod that this guy is, “the yokels” in Yankee Stadium really dropped the ball with that one.

I agree about Arod. I cringe everytime Arod gets booed at Yankee Stadium. I’m like..do you want him to hit or not?

Shame about that Angels rookie killed in a car crash. If you guys want to talk about that, here today, please feel free.

I’m not sure what to say. Just terrible news. The kid was 22 and his life was just beginning. Really makes you think about what you take for granted.

    To quote Pete Abe:

“The Nick Swisher Should Be Playing Everyday Society (of which I am a member) will love that two-run jack. 3-1 Yankees.”

I would like to lighten everyone’s mood by providing the following bit of info:

Carl Pavano “pitched” for the Cleveland Indians and threw 39 pitches through 1 inning (plus 4 batters in the 2nd). In that extremely brief period of time, he gave up 6 hits, 9 runs (all earned), walked 3 and served up 2 homers. He did manage to strike out 1 batter which I guess is the bright side to his day.

Good effin’ riddance to him and may the Cleveland Indians decide to pitch him against the Yanks in Game 1 of the playoffs…

My feeling is that it’ll come down to the final weekend for those two. The Tribe might have a pitching problem but the Twins offense doesn’t inspire me. Both are flawed teams but still the class of their division.

Very complete game so far. 9-2 Yanks in 9th. We hit and pitch very well. Wonder if they’ll bring in MO in 9th for some work.

Very good win today. AJ was good enough, bullpen was terrific, Swish, Cano and Tex just raked. Now let’s go into KC and take 2 of 3.

    AFAIK, the Simons aren’t related.
