Alex [Rodriguez] said that the time he spent in Colorado [gave] him time to think [and] that he has recommitted himself to baseball and the Yankees and plans to have “tunnel vision.” I’m sure the Yankees will be thrilled to hear the highest-paid player in baseball wasn’t fully committed to baseball before. But at least Alex is admitting his mistakes.
Wow. A-Rod’s back in the Yankees fold for less than a day…and…already, in an attempt to do something good, he does something stupid. That didn’t take long, did it?

Don’t worry about dude. Considering the lack of production from your team mates you were just being one of the guys.
What else is new? Arod is an idiot savant…he works his tail off and has great numbers BUT doesn’t know when to shut his trap. You’d think that he’d be more careful but he loves hanging himself while giving the press as much as rope as possible to help him do just that.
Listen to the interview and judge for yourself. His comments were alot more benign than Abraham’s interpretation of them.
Talk about reading something into nothing. This is nothing but of a bunch of generic nothing statements that a lot of people say when they’re on the DL. Come on guys.
And if Ransom’s .045 (as of this writing) average doesn’t make you miss A-Rod, serious warts and all, nothing will.
Oh nooo, its much more fun to read something into nothing and then complain about the player you cant seem to stop thinking about even when he’s doing nothing.
I think Pete Abe is being provocative here.
You guys really think this is one writer trying to make a story out of nothing? Really> Well, for what it’s worth, this was in the Daily News too:
~~~Alex Rodriguez says his headline grabbing days of drama are over – and that during the time he spent in Colorado recovering from hip surgery he figured out that he needs to put his team first and “focus on things on the field with the Yankees.”
“I’m gonna go back to what I did in ’07,” Rodriguez, who won his third MVP Award that year, said after his workout at the Yankees’ minor league complex Monday. “Cut some of the fat out and really focus on playing baseball and focus on what I do best – and that’s playing baseball.”
A-Rod has been a big newsmaker over the last several months – though not necessarily for what he’s done on the field. He burst into the news last fall when it was reported that he was dating Madonna. Then in February, Sports Illustrated broke the news that he had tested positive for steroids during the 2003 season, leading to massive media coverage. And in March, he appeared on the cover of Details magazine kissing himself in a mirror.
“The time in Colorado was good,” he said. “I took that opportunity to rethink things, recommit myself and really understand my responsibility to my teammates and my team.”
A-Rod also said he thinks he can rejoin the Yankee lineup in “maybe a week to 10 days. I’m totally guessing. I don’t want to jump the gun.”
Rodriquez arrived at the complex in a black Ford Expedition Monday morning to continue his rehab from March 9 hip surgery in Vail, and told reporters that he is a changed man.
“Not only was I able to fix myself but when you’re able to rethink things and reorganize your thoughts you put your arm around where you want to go and what you want to do in eight months,” he said. “It’s all about our team.”~~~
