Sure, why not?! It’d be better than back when Joe the nosepicker would give the 8th inning to schlubs like Tanyon Sturtze.

By the way, I’m getting a Swisher t-shirt to wear for my first game next month. I liked him before but love him now.

I liked the person but the player was lousy and Torre’s faith in him was wholly misguided.

mj – first thing i’m doing when i get off the subway thursday is walking down to river ave. and buying a navy blue 33. same boat as you – loved him before, but it’s a whole different level now. the hot start certainly helps, but that’s not the driving factor. love the whole package. not sure if anyone else noticed, but when he hit that pinch-hit double on opening day and got pinch-run for, he came back to the dugout clapping his hands pounding everyone else like it was game 1 of the alds. i love that stuff as a fan, because i want to win that game just like it was game 1 of the alds too. easy guy to connect to.

I actually have Swisher’s 33 player tee from the A’s and his 30 from the White Sox. I’m waiting until they sell the official 33 player tees on mlb.com. Those fake ones on RiverAve were never that appealing to me, but you guys enjoy!

I just read what I wrote and that sounded incredibly snotty, didn’t mean it that way guys. What I meant was I have a strict code of what apparel I buy and for superstitious reasons I stick to it. Din’t mean to come off like a total doucher.

LOL! No harm no foul. As long as the whole stadium is wearing blue #33, it doesn’t matter if it’s official or the knock-off swag from Stan’s on River Ave.

For anybody going to Sunday’s game I have great news. On the mound, for the visiting Indians, Carl Pavano!

Boston pitcher Josh Beckett has been suspended for six games and fined by Major League Baseball, which determined he intentionally threw a pitch near the head of the Los Angeles Angels’ Bobby Abreu last week.

      Good.

i missed that play, did it actually look like he did it on purpose?

    15. April 14th, 2009 | 3:32 pm

      Yup.

It was surprisingly close to his head. Beckett was in his windup and the umpire called time, but I think (speculating) Beckett thought Abreu called time. Pitchers are taught to never stop their motion when they get to a certain point to prevent injury so he just threw it, but it was very close to his head.

Also, we may see Claggett called up tonight for the Yanks. He was a piece in the Sheffield to Detroit deal…should be fun to see a piece of that trade in action.

i knew what you meant crank. i actually prefer the official ones as well, either from mlb.com or from mo’s etc., but with swish it’s one of those things i just don’t think it can wait. gotta have that player T now.

Beckett was visibly pissed that Abreu called a time out.He definitely was headhunting, no doubt about that. The thing I was most perplexed by was that Beckshit approached the mound AND was still not thrown out! Is Joe West and the umpiring crew a bunch of morons? It’s one thing if Bay catches a ball that bounces TWICE off the wall and these dunderheads can’t see properly(that was a terrible call)BUT Beckett was screwing around with someone’s livelihood. It was a farce no doubt. No pitcher has the right to head hunt like that and especially when they pitch in the AL. The Red Pox fans will probably pull a Manny on him, when/if he leaves. He certainly picked up the asshole mantle on that team from Manram…….

Thanks Steve. I sure was. I’ll get one more chance when I head to Turner Field for Yanks/Braves June 24th. Gotta sport the Tiex jersey for that one!
