By the way: Jason Giambi would have never turned that 5-3-6 DP in the bottom of the third today. Was that a thing of beauty, or what?

Absolutely gorgeous! I grew to like the Giambino but I love Teixeira already. The Yanks haven’t had a real 1B since Tino (v1, not v2 which showed up in 2005).

Get rid of Jeter, Swisher is God, make Pena shortstop right now! Everyone knows that St Derek has no range, Bill James told me that. That miraculous DP in the third was purely a statistical deviant from the norm, any player according to the Egghead Nation could have tagged out a player like that.The early demise of Jeter has been greatly exaggerated….to say the very least.

Clint, Jeter probably takes it as a badge of honor getting trashed by the opposite team. It doesn’t seem to hurt his confidence at all. It’s early, but Jeter has veritably become Captain Clutch(though one can make an argument that he always has been that way without a shadow of a doubt). There’s still life in that old boy after all.

That 15-5 beating was humbling. Especially being there. After we won the 2nd game, I got so much trashtalk…for us winning. The success of 2008 has really changed the Rays fan base. The only person they booed was Jeter by the way….Jeter! Extremely classless bunch of fans.

I’d like to think the Yanks are capable of beating the Rays 2 of 3 without taking a 15-5 beating first.

It’s the optimist in me.
