Wow, good for Jeet. That really is an impressive group of players.

And Corey, have you read “The Glory Of Their Times”? A lot of great stories about Cobb in that book. The way he played the game was remarkable.

I highly recommend “Cobb: A Biography” by Al Stump. One of my all-time favs.

Ty Cobb: the original Great Player/Enormous Jerk prototype. He fought with everyone, opposing players, fans, his own teammates, everyone. He was also accused of “laying down” in games later in his career. But he was undeniably great.

Well, maybe Cap Anson actually deserves 1st call on the Great Player/Enormous Jerk list. But Cobb isn’t far behind.

DJ is behind Joe Jackson, you mean the Stepping Out guy played baseball? :) I’m more shocked at Kirby Puckett being on that list let alone, that he is ahead of Jete. I mean Kirby was a very good player/HOF BUT he’s never been one of my faves.Yeah, I know his prodigious numbers etc so on but Jete is a better player to me. I loved reading about Cobb back in the 70s and somehow those childhood books for teenagers left out all the asshole stories out! It was great to see Rod Carew on this list it was a joy to see him play in the 70s and 80s.
