As for the blowouts, 2 of them are courtesy of Mr. Wang. Either he fixes his problems, and the blowouts stop, or he's taken out of the rotation and the blowouts stop.

The other blowout was courtesy of Veras and Marte, and again, either they'll pitch better, or their roles will be reduced/eliminated.

It's actually better to have most of the problems concentrated in a few players, because identifying and fixing the problems is easier.

If you're headed for 83-79 because your #4 and #5 starters stink, and because the bottom 3 in your batting order can't get off the interstate, that's fixable; you get rid of them, and bring in other guys, while realizing that even mediocre players would be significant replacements.

On the other hand, if you're headed for 83-79 because most of your players are average or a little better, then that's a real problem, because figuring who to get rid of is more difficult, and finding players who are actually good to replace them is much harder.

Brett Cecil is NOT David Price. He's going through his first time around the league, but doesn't have anything like Price's stuff. If he did, he'd have been on top of the prospect lists. But he wasn't.
==================================
As for every game counting, that's true, but tell it to the Rays as well, because they also lost 2 of 3 to the O's.

We already routinely throw out lineups with a bottom 3 of Melky, Molina and Gardner.
-------------
And yet, they're averaging 5 runs a game :)

i never said the jays and o's are auto wins, but i will say they step up their game when playing the AL east and will slack against the rest of the league and get beat up there...bank it

and the reason i said you were mocking me was cause i was the one who brought the fact that the rays and sox are the teams "that matter", and i was sayin it in tongue in cheek thats all

I think we're all aware of how tought Balt. and Toronto can be. The O's just took 2 out of 3 from us and Doc flat out owns us. As does seemingly every new pitcher these teams throw at us, lol

we havn’t played toronto yet so how is it that they matter at this juncture? do you honestly think at the end of the year that they will be right in the pack? I doubt it…i believe a good manager can be the difference in a few games per season, but ultimatly it all comes down to the players

“so-called teams” that matter out of the playoffs.

also, if your gonna mock me, at least put the quotes around the right words

BTW, what are you talking about? I wasn't mocking anyone. Only stating an opinion. My choice of parentheses had nothing to do with someone else's quote good ,bad or indifferent. I don't understand where you are coming from, don't act like Wanger on me now!:)Or maybe Arod will let you see one of his legions of psychologists,if you need to.Maybe, Arod should give Wanger one of those numbers...... It's all good,at least we can joke around with each other on this board if anything. Like I have stated , it's nice to think that the Blue and Blackbirds will totally suck BUT the Yankees are trying to win it all and people can't be delusional about those teams. Are they great? No, but they will not lie down when they play the Yankees. In other words, the Yankees can't count on automatic wins when playing those teams, either. That's basically the point , I was making.

As it is, the Yankees start “Week 3″ just 2.5 games back of the first place “10-4″ Toronto Blue Jays.
—————-
Yep, plenty of time left in the season. The only blip of concern on the radar is Wang’s performance.
----

I'll respectfully disagree. I think we can be very happy that we're one game above .500, but i'm concerned because we're one more injury away from having a serious problem with scoring runs. We already routinely throw out lineups with a bottom 3 of Melky, Molina and Gardner. Matsui has been terrible, so all i'm saying is it's a concern. Can we be ok, then have A-Rod back and score 6-7 runs a game? Of course, but I fear for one arm tweak from Posada, one sore calf from Damon or one pitch hitting Jeter on that wrist again.

The season is still young BUT every game counts..... look at last year. And Toronto and Baltimore matter, because the Yankees have to play them as much as Boston and Tampa. They will not be great BUT they will be pesky with a capital P and they will play the Yankees , Red Sox and Rays hard. The Jays, even though they lost 4 of their pitchers from last year, have young pitchers like Romero, Mills and Cecil(who basically has the same stats as David Price BUT is a year younger) to come up take their place. And what team wants to face Doc Halladay?Cito, that blast from the past, has revivified that team especially offensively, they have the best BA in the AL so far. I keep on remembering 92-93 ,when they were the dominant team in the AL East every time I see Cito. Trembley has the Blackbirds talking fielding practice before the games, keeping their fundamentals sharp. And honestly, they can hit! There might not be much pitching after Guthrie, but Markakis, Roberts and Co put the ball in play. They shouldn't be taken lightly either. Both of those teams won't win the pennant BUT they will keep one of the "so-called teams" that matter out of the playoffs.
