Anthony Claggett in and Damaso Marte on the DL. The pen is looking worse and worse, huh?

Per Pete Abe 30 minutes ago: Girardi is 30 minutes to his pre-game press conference and no lineup is posted. Something is up.

      Hmmm…

But, no mention of anything in the 1st 5 minutes of YES BP TV…

      Ah, this now from Pete:

The delay involved meeting with Marte. They also determined that Swisher would be available only to DH.

Meanwhile, when asked about MLB’s investigation about Alex Rodriguez, Girardi went on a lengthy tirade against Selena Roberts’ book on Rodriguez. He questioned the release date of the book and her motives.

It came out of left field and Girardi grew very emotional.

Interesting that Gym Teacher Joe defended Alex so passionately or was it that he was just railing against the book(there’s a subtle distinction there)! :) And the pen is looking much worse, but for some the Marte on the DL might be a godsend (the Marte haters out there). Quite frankly, the pen has been like a rollercoaster ride this year and there seems to be no end in sight……

On a somewhat related note, I wonder how things would’ve changed if the Yanks did something similar with Yankee Stadium. Not that I’m second guessing the renovations in the 70′s, but given the reverence that Wrigley and Fenway have, one could only imagine how things would’ve turned out if YS was never renovated.

Raf, I was around when Yankee Stadium was renovated 74-75. They were quite a few people calling it New Yankee Stadium then(in 76), so it wasn’t like the really new Stadium would have been a total shock for those that remember the old Yankee Stadium pre 1976. Quite frankly, the renovated Stadium was brilliant and dazzling when I first saw it. It was truly an impressive makeover. I loved it.The situation would be quite different today. Levine and Trost(the Yankee Inc boys) were concerned with constructing the maximum amount of luxury boxes, restaurants, and best facilities for a profit. A renovation of the current stadium would have taken ten years from what I understand AND that would have been too long for some people in the front office.

Nah, not really. Going into the season, we knew (or at least I did), that pen arms would be swapped in and out. There are plenty of arms to be found @ SWB.
