Is this a Yankees team who can beat the weaker teams; but, who cannot go toe-to-toe with a team like the Red Sox?
------------
Good question. What do you think of last year's team? Because they couldn't beat the weaker teams, but went toe-to-toe with the Red Sox and Rays.

So, the same question from Week 3 remains. Is this a Yankees team who can beat the weaker teams; but, who cannot go toe-to-toe with a team like the Red Sox?
----------------

Well, as long as the Yanks keep beating up on worser teams, I can't complain too much. Sure, we got swept in Fenway, but we took 2 of 3 from the Angels. (And if you want to claim the Angels were injured, then that allows me to make the same claim about the Yanks.)

A-Rod will be back, Tex will be better, and either Wang or someone replacing him will do better than 1 IP 7 ER.

Isn’t it odd that every time the Yankees face a pitcher like Matt Palmer, who doesn’t throw hard, has a little movement on his pitches, and throws off-speed pitches, they always lose to him and make him seem like a Cy Young Award Winner.
------

Yes, it's very frustrating. However, it's not just the Yanks who do this so we can't be too alarmed. For instance, we found a way to win 89 games last year with a large chunk of starts from guys named Rasner, Ponson and Geise...so obviously, even the guys with not-so-dominant stuff come out ahead sometimes.

Fans tend to be very hard on their own teams. Especially baseball and especially in the northeast.

I think the Yanks have gotten off to a decent start. Sure there are areas to criticize (CC, Tex, bullpen). But these should work themselves out.

Overall, I'm satisfied. It's a much better April than the last couple of years. I'm optimistic for the '09 season.
