Anybody catch Papelbon’s orgasim on the mound last night after striking out the last batter? Probably not..cause nobody’s talking about it.

so annoyed my dvr didn’t tape Saturday’s game (which i was at), so can anyone explain to me why edwar was in after Hughes’ wheels fell off and not Aceves? Why is Aceves even on the team then? Even tho the Yanks got killed, I gotta say Camden is awesome and I recommend it to anyone, my seats were killer 2, 5 rows from the field on the field level…i could have spat on Huff if I so chose

I wouldnt spit on Huff..next time he hits a HR he’ll walk the bases spitting the whole way, hocking a major loogie when he crosses home plate.

Girardi talked about this in the post game on Saturday. They held Ace back because they were worried that they would need him on Sunday if Joba’s thumb was a no-go.

      @ Corey:
Saturday was my 6th or 7th visit to Camden. Apart from the two old parks (Cubs/BoSox), Camden is BY FAR the best ballpark in the game, in my opinion. It is retro without being cheesy, it’s modern without being gimmicky, it’s flat-out gorgeous. The warehouse is just the nicest thing I’ve ever seen at a ballpark. I love it.

The game I was at…not so much.

That’s one of my pet peeves. Considering David Segui, Brian Roberts, Jay Gibbons and Miggy Tejada all juiced in an O’s uniform, I don’t know what Baltimoreans are getting so snooty about.

Also lame is how much country music they play during the game, including the 7th inning stretch. WTF? When did Baltimore turn into a hick town?

It isn’t so much that they turned into a hick town, Baltimore has always had hillbillies (Billies), from what I understand. Big Appalachian influence there, from what I remember.

Hicktown? Whatsa a matter you? All y’all don’t like Carrie Underwood? There are parts of Maryland that are positively Johnny Reb and Baltimore is the most cosmopolitan place in said state. Country music is actually popular outside of the Northeast.

PapelBONE and his asshole shaped mouth when he pitches? Positively annoying. YEah, Pape acted like he won the World Series last night. Somebody should get on his butt for his expressiveness. He is quite frankly a candidate for buzzing in interleague if he comes up. Great pitcher, but a class A chump in his actions. That guy seems to put people on base quite a bit and makes people nervous, BUT always seems to get out of it.

ON Huff again, screw Joba. He wants to show up hitters like he did during the(at the time)4-3 loss to the Red Sox, Joba gets what he deserves. I thought it was fitting. Just to be fair, if a Yankee, Jay, Ray or O hits a walkoff homerun against PapelBONE I would like them to make that asshole shaped mouth and act like he won the World Series. BTW, other team’s fans just don’t hate Joba they hate ASSMOUTH PAPELBONE,too!

it’s really a mix…but the division is really age based, IMO…the older crowd is more hillbilly esque, where as the younger parts of the crowd aren’t…and I’d say this has more to do with the internet and its influence on us…i feel like my generation is kind of/sort of all on the same page (or at least the same chapter)…

Yeah, I suppose there aren’t many people moving in from the mountains anymore. Given urban development and sprawl, I’d say people are probably moving out to the mountains :)

I don’t know if it’s the internet, it has been that way for a while; I remember them playing John Denver’s “Thank God I’m a Country Boy” for a while, I don’t know if they played it at old Memorial Stadium. As with any generation, they shape or become shaped by the area. The Billies would be in their 60′s, 70′s & 80′s now.

Baltimore is definitely one of the more interesting cities around. I’ve enjoyed the times I have visited there.

I was wondering if we can open this discussion a little bit more into the game yesterday.. And no offense to the guy who was at the game over the weekend.. But the New Yankee stadium I think is the best in baseball… But the crab cakes at Camden are great!!.. With our without the old bay spice….

So, anyone care to explain why General Joe continues to sit back and wait for the three run homer to bail his sorry a$$ from another loss?.. I am so sick of this guys not managing the situation game after game… I thought the idea of bringing him in was to give the Yankees a bit more NL type of baseball?… Or was there a memo the Yankee put out abolishing this idea that I didn’t get a copy on?…

still havnt been there, i gotta hit up stub hub tho since the prices are falling…i honestly couldn’t afford it before. $55 in camden gets u field level 3 rows behind the first bag, $55 in yankee stadium III gets u upper tier nose bleeds, easy decision for me..but ill get there

I was at the games on Friday and Saturday….I have probably been to 20 Yankee games at Camden Yards. It is my favorite park to see a game. I guess being from N. Carolina, the crowd doesn’t seem hickish at all. In fact, with all the New Yorkers in the crowd, it seems alot like when I have visited Yankee Stadium in the past. It is all about someone’s point of view, I guess.

Anyway, Baltimore and the Inner Harbor area seems very nice to me…it is about a 6 hour drive from where I live and we stay at the Marriott right beside the stadium which makes everything very convinient. I lilke the food, both at the park and in town…great crabcakes, and the food sold outside the stadium before the games is wonderful, too.

It is amazing how much cheaper it is to go to a game in Baltimore than New York. I think the best seats in the house go for $90. The food prices are much more reasonable, too.

I can’t imagine a better place to see the Yankees play.

Probably because the entire Yankee roster is built that way. Johnny and Jeter can’t swipe bags like they used to, A-Rod can barely move right now and most of our players not named Melky or Cervelli are going to produce by mashing. It’s not Joe’s fault, he’s playing to the roster of players that are given to him. If he had the speed of other teams, I imagine he’d use it by creating runs in other ways. What else did you want him to do?

Regardless, on the whole, the pitching has been more of a problem than the hitting.

Agreed……to a certain degree. The bullpen is not where it should be AND the starting pitching hasn’t pitched to its potential on paper. BUT that RISP problem still exists. Certain hitters haven’t hit to their potential either: Teix, Cano and Arod(I know it’s too early with him, BUT we need a 5 run from him soon and the Arod haters need grist for the mill, they expect Alex to go 15 for 15 this past series) Thanks to Johnny Damonic(who is hitting like a demon, is he playing for next year’s contract or what?), Joba looked better than that iffy first inning yersterday.

That is an inherent problem with the team its construction. I can’t blame Gym Teacher Joe for those issues. The team has aging veterans and some less than stellar (that’s an understatement) younger talent. If the Yanks don’t make it to the playoffs, it won’t be Gym Teacher Joe’s fault. What manager could turn this bullpen which is tin into gold? The last time I checked the bullpen sprang forth from the head of the Yankee GM. He needs to get heat for those woes. In addition, the fact that the Yankee lineup was an NL 7-9 at given times so far? There should have been more depth than there has been. It is nice to see Cervelli’s speed BUT does anyone think this is a playoff team with Cervelli AND Molina as the catchers(with potentially weak offense from both?). It makes me want to see Gym Teacher Joe come out and be behind the dish again……………

      @ MJ:

Well, the term get them on move them over and drive them in come to any one’s mind?.. Stealing is one part of the game, but what about hit and run?
So now that we are an aging team, then spending all this money off season did what to help this team win this year?… I was under the impression that’s what General Joe was hired to .. Play some small ball or as Ozzie likes to call it SMART BALL…

would it be so wrong to have TEX lay down a bunt once in a while?. Unless I am the only one seeing that he is pressing, maybe, just maybe catching the opposing defense on its heels might help break his slump.. Would be nice to see the at bat used more productively.. Or are we afraid it would bruise another ego?…..

I agree.. but somethings putting the pressure on the opposing defense can take the rhythm out of their offense… I just think this team is too predictable on offense…. May 11th, 2009 | 2:17 pm

      @ Sicilian Lou:

At the very least, I’d have a lefty facing Damon. But looking @ the roster, the only other lefty they had was the closer, Sherrill, and there’s no way he’s coming in the 7th. So yes, I agree, you’d probably want to walk Damon to get to Teix.

As for bunting, with the way things are with the team, where they can score 4-5 runs in an instant, I can understand why the team would eschew “small ball.” You have 6-7 guys who can go deep at any time, or at the very least put the ball in play hard somewhere.

      @ Raf:
hey Raj.. thats part of my point I haven’t gotten to but glad you pointed this out now.. This team is toooooooooo streaky and toooooo inconsistent.. Its either feast or fathom for them.. Some small ball I think would help bring more consistentency to the lineup and when the time is right, the long ball will come more in bunches….

Right now, Its just too predictable… No opposing manager is staying up at nights worry about what the Yankees will do….
