    Here’s a fun “Who Am I?” for today…

I play for a Yankees rival. Below are my batting stats for the last 100 games that I have played in the big leagues:

G PA	2B HR	RBI BB	SO BA OBP SLG
    100 449	31 13	67 63	78 .248	.355 .445

Hint: I’m under contract with my current team for this season and the one to follow. And, my nickname rhymes with “Pig Crappy.”

Kevin Brown is playing for our rival?

      LOL!

Ortiz’s slugging % this year is lower then his OBP which isn’t that high to begin with. That tells you the whole story

It’s great to mock our collective tormentor, but the needle on the Karm-o-meter is starting to get near the redline now.

We’re all begging to be rewarded with a Ortiz resurgence the consequences of which none of us wishes to comtemplate.

So, ixnay on the ockerymay, until the big dude is actually retired from baseball, or at least until the season is over, and the Yanks are in the postseason, and the Sox are not.

      @ Evan3457:
Not only do I agree (indulging the illogical, superstitious part of my brain) but I also think that a lot of what’s happening to him at this point is mental. He’s in a funk and he’s down on himself. Yes, he’s no longer the stud he was in 2003-2006, but he’s not THIS bad either. Once he relaxes a little bit and stops hearing the mocking, he’ll probably go on a mini-tear.

Well put Evan…. With our luck, he will get hot when we face the Red Sox again and bite us on the crouch.. OUCH!!….

I wonder how his stats look if you take out the games against the Yankees.

      …and Hubris is immediately punished.

Ortiz: a 2-run HR off Cecil tonight.

I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.

–Japanese fleet commander Isoroku Yamamoto, allegedly right after the Imperial Navy’s successful sneak attack on the U.S. Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor. (Nobody can really source the quote, though it has been repeatedly attributed to Yamamoto.)

I had no idea Steve had played a role in Papi busting out last night. ;)

I think MJ is right, a lot of it is – maybe “was” – mental. I still wish I could see his double that came after the home run. I heard it missed going out by a fraction but I’d like to see just how well he hit it.

If Papi even hits like he did last year, with the other offensive cogs doing the job (how about Varitek with 7 homers, and Lowell picking up where he left off, pre-injury?) the offense will be more than fine. Now if the starters do their job …

ESPN was making it seem that Ortiz’s first HR of this season was as big of a feat as the Yanks delivering back-to-back-to-back jacks and winning 8 in a row. The blatant bias for “The Nation” is sickening at this point.

He struck the ball well twice. Doesn’t he have to do that a few more times before we can claim that he has returned to old form?

ESPN!!… Those Boston loving Homers… I rather have tooth canal without novocaine to listen to them anymore… Bias journalism at its best.. Whats next? They get to cover all the Red Sox games exclusively?..

Is Peter Gammon’s still telling the World why Theo was fiscally responsible for not signing Mark Teixeira? or how Pab’s fist pump is not an issue but Joba’s is?…
