My son turned five last month and my daughter will turn seven next month.

To date, my daughter has been to 22 professional baseball games – major, minor and indy-league games – and my son has been to 21 pro-games. (And, we have tickets for another game this coming Sunday.)

Me? I was 10 1/2 years old when I saw my first professional baseball game.

Related, I thought this might be a fun topic for a Friday before a three-day weekend…

How about you? How old were you when you started going to ballgames? And, did you go often as a very young child?

my first game was the first ever game played by the Colorado Rockies at Shea Stadium, and the rockies beat the mets…twas a good day. For that I went with a family friend, the next game i would go to would be at the stadium when i was 15 with my friends and started regularly going with acquaintances after that…noone in my family likes baseball (or sports in general) so I didn’t get many opportunities to see games live when I was young. The scooter helped me through it tho

First pro game was in 1992 when I was 12. My dad is a Dodgers fan so we went up to the old Fulton County Stadium to see Braves/Dodgers. I mainly remember having my glove in hand begging for a foul ball. This July we’re making a return trip to ATL to see Braves/Dodgers again. My dad hasnt seen the Dodgers live since. Manny will back then too, lol

Haha… Ok.. got one.. and yes it will show my age.. 1967!!… I seen my first Yankee game… I was 7 my dad got tickets right behind home plate at the old Yankee stadium….Showed me the spot where Mantle hit the facade in Right field.. Still amazed how far that is….Mel was the Yankee pitcher who threw a three hitter to the Twins…
The three hits coming from a rookie second baseman who became a Hall of Famer today.. I grew up idolizing this great player and for my 35 birthday, my wife did the most amazing thing.. She got me to have lunch with him!!.. Thank You Rod Carew.. Till this day my favorite ballplayer.. A true gentlemen and one of the best hitters of my generation..

My first game was a Mets game in either ‘88 or ‘89 so I was either 5 or 6. I don’t remember who they played, but I remember sitting in the left field bleachers with my parents and seeing Straw blast a homer that landed right in front of me and having my dad hold me up so I could see the apple come out of the hat.

I’ve been to 4 games in my life. 2 at Yankee Stadium, 2 at Fenway. I might have been 8-10ish at the first one.
