Well, I am just a high school student, so I don’t quite have the same perspective as many of you guys, but I cans say that at 7:05, I am right in the middle of doing my hw so its perfect timing. I get to do my hw while have something interesting filling my brain at the same time.

And another reason for longer games: hitters taking pitches and stronger lineups at the bottom of the order.

In the 70′s and especially before the DH, the 7, 8 and 9 hitters were very weak. A starting pitcher could ‘take innings off’ and save strength for the top of the lineup. The 9 was the pitcher and 8 was usually a shortstop hitting about .200.

Guys like Arod, Nomar and Visquel changed everything. (With honorary mention to Jeter.)

I live in CT and as much as I like attending games, I hate getting home late and waking up for work, which I do at 545.

When watching an old game on TV I am amazed at how the batter never left the box between pitches. That is even more wasting of time than commercials between innings.

Yep. Between innings shouldn’t take more than a couple of minutes. Offensive team heads to bat, defensive team heads to field, pitcher takes 10 pitches to warm up.

When it comes to commercials, soccer has the right idea, showing a product logo in the corner of the screen. I realize that won’t fly here, but still…

Since I usually don’t get out of work until 7pm, I’m going to have to advocate for the 8:05pm start for selfish reasons.
