7:05 is perfect, 6:35 doesn’t leave enough time to get home from work and eat and get settled IMO

Agree completely.
I went with 7:35pm.. I hate to have to rush my evenings with dinner and guests.. Although they know come 7:05 they better be gone or I throw them out during the Yankee games…
Given that the work day, for many of us these days, does not end until 6 pm, or later, and allowing time for people to commute home, eat dinner, etc. – or allowing time for people to commute to the Stadium, I think that 7:35 pm is the perfect time.
That said, I grew up with Yankees games starting at 8 pm – and that worked too, back in the day. But, I realize, now, with the way TV works, they would never go for that today….

Not only that but games are longer nowadays (at least I think they are).
i mean, really to me, it’s all moot cause i dvr the game anyway and watch it at my leisure. (i recommend it)

Go to a minor league game, where it’s not on TV, and you’ll be amazed at how quick a 9 inning baseball game can be played…even with the on-field between innings stuff, personal PA intro music and deep pitch counts, frequent pitching changes….
this is the great MLB lie – that games are slower/lower because of stuff on the field. That’s a load….

That’s probably true about the commercial breaks, especially on games played for national audiences (ESPN’s Monday/Wednesday/Sunday broadcasts; FOX’s Saturday game).
I don’t know how a regular YES or My9 broadcast compares with a national ESPN/FOX broadcast but I figure they’re probably fairly similar, with a slight edge for the non-national broadcasts in terms of keeping the time-wasting to a minimum.

Since I usually don’t get out of work until 7pm, I’m going to have to advocate for the 8:05pm start for selfish reasons.

I live in CT and as much as I like attending games, I hate getting home late and waking up for work, which I do at 545.
When watching an old game on TV I am amazed at how the batter never left the box between pitches. That is even more wasting of time than commercials between innings.
And another reason for longer games: hitters taking pitches and stronger lineups at the bottom of the order.
In the 70′s and especially before the DH, the 7, 8 and 9 hitters were very weak. A starting pitcher could ‘take innings off’ and save strength for the top of the lineup. The 9 was the pitcher and 8 was usually a shortstop hitting about .200.
Guys like Arod, Nomar and Visquel changed everything. (With honorary mention to Jeter.)

Well, I am just a high school student, so I don’t quite have the same perspective as many of you guys, but I cans say that at 7:05, I am right in the middle of doing my hw so its perfect timing. I get to do my hw while have something interesting filling my brain at the same time.
