I'd kick Berroa to the curb. Ditto Cash. The only reason I could see Cash sticking around is because they'd want Cervelli getting AB's every day. I'd rather him get the AB's that Cash would be getting.

If it were up to me, I'd drop Berroa (since Pena can do his job better) and bring up an extra OF. With Melky's shoulder thing and Swisher in need of a day off, the Yanks would be better off bringing up a guy like John Rodriguez from AAA just to give the team some fresh legs out there.

This, of course, highlights why Matsui is such a drag on the roster. I love the guy but he's gotta go.

You mean your customary "gloom and doom" prediction didn't pan out?

On the other hand, Jorge may be rushing back to soon. You could always predict a rapid relapse, a la Bruney.

On the 3rd hand, "gloom and doom" is definitely the way to go if you want to reduce disappointments. I do it myself, just about every game the Yanks play. I think of reasons the pitcher they face is tougher than he looks on the surface. Then if they hit him, it's a pleasant surprise. (This is tougher to do than it would be for another team considering the Yanks' payroll.)

Well...what the heck, Steve, here's a free one from me to you....

Jorge's back, hunh...well, he's probably back too soon, and when he reinjures himself, he'll be out for a lot longer this time...and even if he's healthy, the pitchers like throwing to Cervelli, Molina and Cash better anyway (CERAs: Cash 3.49, Molina 3.66, Cervelli 4.26, Posada 7.85). After all, the Yanks didn't really heat up until Jorge got hurt, right? (14-8 since he went on the DL)

So there's "hope" yet; maybe the Yanks were better without Jorge! ;-)
