• WasWatching.com Day 1,500

    Posted by on May 28th, 2009 · Comments (13)

Today is the 1,500th day since this blog was launched. During this time, there have been over 7,300 “posts” to WasWatching.com.

That’s 4.9 posts per day – for those scoring at home. And, I’m not sure which is more scary about that…the fact that I’ve been averaging close to 5 posts per day here for over four years…or the fact that some may be keeping score of that at home.

In any event, it’s been a fun 1,500 days. Thanks for sharing as many of them as you have with me, here. There’s really nothing I would have done differently with the blog these one thousand and five hundred days…well, there is one thing…and I’ve been thinking about it, a lot, recently. Can you guess what it is?

I dunno how many of those 1,500 days I’ve been a part of but I expect that it’s been most of them (first comment was, I believe, during the 2005 ALDS).

I’m glad the site is still around and going strong because without it my workdays would be a lot less interesting. Not to mention that this site let me fulfill one of my life’s goals: to own Yankees season tickets. Keep it up Steve!

Good work Steve, lots to be proud of.

My guess: Buy a surplus of Yankee-tinted glasses and send them out to every WW reader who deserves them?

I haven’t been on here that long at all, but this blog has been a great place for ne to get my daily fix as a Yankees junky. Congrats Steve.

      Congrats Steve!

My guess is that someone finally threw that bag full of cash (money, not the catcher or GM), and you will be writing about baseball full time?

Thanks all. YankCrank, Tcarda4 & Raf – LOL.

Actually, Evan3457 sort of hit on it.

When I look at some of the very successful bloggers out there – like Alex Belth, Matt Cerrone, and Pete Abraham – I notice that they don’t “comment” on their own posts as much as I do here. And, I’d like to get to that point, myself.

Between work, family and other stuff, I only have a small, fixed, amount of time that I can devote to this blog. And, I think it makes much more sense, and a better blog reading experience, if I used that time to focus on research and writing as opposed to making comments – because I feel they are required or someone has asked me a question or wants my opinion on their opinion, etc.

Now, granted, I realize that my posts are more “edgy” than many other related blogs. And, I’m not posting things like “Big Burnett on the bump tonight. The boys need a win, Fo Shizzle Ma Nizzle! Let’s go Yankees!” or “While Phil Hughes had a rough outing today, we at WasWatching.com have long been supporters of him – and the efforts made by Brian Cashman in general in terms of his efforts to guide the team. And, while it looks bleak now, we feel in the very near future that young Mr. Hughes will be the guiding light of the Yankees franchise.” If I were doing that perhaps there would be less comments left (by readers) requiring me to follow up in some way – as I often do now?

Like I said, it’s something I think about – more now than ever.

Again, it’s a matter of time, or lack there of, and ensuring that I use what time I have, in best way possible, to maintain (and improve!) this blog.

Of course, I could just “post” and totally ignore comments – and by not looking at them, I would never know if comments from me were required. And, it might come to that. But, before I make that call, I want to make sure it’s the right thing to do.

….uh, actually, I meant no comments from us, especially the snarky ones. :-$
